Graham was able to capture the sense of community that surrounds a family-run pub, frequented by locals. There were some unexpected twists in the story that I really liked and the suspense of not knowing who was involved, who wasn't, and who was ultimately responsible for the bad things, was well done. What I didn't like: (No spoilers!) The h was not TSTL (too stupid to live) however, she flirted kind of close a couple of times: 1) near the end of the book, insisting that she be taken to the family pub simply because her brothers were there when she knew the dangers; 2) claiming client confidentiality as the reason why she couldn't/shouldn't reveal to the H the information shared with her was pretty weak. If she could do for the informant what she did, she could have found some way to pass on the info and still protect her informant. This was definitely a suspense novel and did well as a suspense novel. It was not what I would call romantic suspense simply because there was no romance. At 50% of the way through the book, she's still not trusting him and he's still suspecting her. At the end of the book, they've known each other barely two weeks and they're now in a committed relationship?? But all of their interactions outside the bedroom have revolved around the case! There was no romance. Frankly, I wasn't able to really SEE why they ended up in a relationship. If you want a book that is focused more on the suspense, than this is your book.
