Would these be strong enough to be tied together and used as a rope for scaling a wall?

I found that with my socks tied together I couldn't move my feet sufficiently to climb the wall. I'm trying again tomorrow with a new plan involving tying them to a pogo stick.

why has this product switched from mostly cotton to polyester?...terrible!!

For what it’s worth, here is the product makeup for the two twelve-packs of these that I just received (January 3, 2020):

Cotton: 79%
Polyester: 16%
Natural latex rubber: 3%
Spandex: 1%
Nylon: 1%

It’s worth noting that the contents list is on a sticker affixed to the plastic packaging, not on the packaging itself. The sticker isn’t covering another contents list; I checked. This implies to me that the contents may change from time to time.

I have been buying hanes big and tall socks for about 20 years and were very happy with them. Now they are painfully tight.  What happened ? Why ?

We had the same problem. My husband has also worn these socks for over 20 years and when I bought two packs of them in the store we had to give them to a young nephew because they were so small and tight. My husband is only a size 10, but has muscular calves so they are a little larger, he wore them one day at work and his feet were numb when he got home. They cut the blood circulation to his feet off. I was going to buy the larger size but I see that's not even going to help because they're going to be just as tight. Hanes what you're doing is ridiculous and sad. You're losing longtime customers.
