They will need to be sharpened and smoothed out if your using them on leather.

These are a good, inexpensive option for a beginner leatherworker. They need to be sharpened first to make exact cuts on 3 or more layers of leather.

I bought this set because, 1. It was a great price and 2. I wanted something that could easily cut the corners of my leather projects, specifically wallets. What I’ve been doing in the past for rounded corners was taking gradual cuts as I rounded the corners to “round” them, however as much as I tried to measure, line up, and cut them straight down, they weren’t very consistent. Using sandpaper and edge burnishing it was easy to fix it, but I wanted something a little easier, faster, and more consistent. These work great. They were pretty sharp right away, and easily punch through 4-5mm worth of leather. I’ve never used high-quality, pricey, gold-plated round punches before, so I have nothing to compare them to. But they work really well for my needs and I’m very happy with them.

I read the reviews and hesitated order these, but chanced it with the 1/4 rounds, and they worked great. I have been using them for months, are sharp, and have held and edge. Based on this experience I bought the 1/2 rounds which unfortunately were not as good. The 1/2 rounds, They are very hard to use. At 1st I thought it was a quality control thing, that this set was dull, and the original was sharp, but I don't think that is the case. I tried to sharpen them and it didn't seem to help. The problem appears to be that the leverage is all wrong. When you hammer you are just punching down with the center, There is no way to get a good strike to cut with the ends. I ended up ordering another brand of half rounds where the hammer portion was spread out more evenly.

Great for the money

These came in super, super dull, pretty much no cutting edge at all. I’ve had to sharpen every single one that I’ve tried to use so far, and their so dull it takes almost 30 minutes each to get them where they should have been out of the box. Could also be because they came in a bag together where they could bounce around and hit each other and become dull. Save your money and buy some better ones if you don’t know how to properly sharpen tools from scratch.

So far they have worked very nicely. They are pretty sharp and the different sizes are nice. I have used them to cut out earrings and in corners of wallets and folders.

They are good. Not great, but good. I received them wrapped up in some plastic wrap, in a plastic bag, in an envelope. They are sharp but not that sharp. They may have banged together all the way from China. First thing I did is make a tool roll from waxed canvas to keep them sharp, safe, and protected. Took a round stone and gave them a good sharp edge and now I can say they are pretty sharp, are stored in a waxed canvas tool roll and protected from knicks and dings. They do the job and I don’t have to worry about one falling off the bench top.

If you need these tools then get them. They work well.

At first I thought theses were useless but turns out I wasn't using the right substrate underneath. I had to use hardwood as a base. Works fine now.

Ideal for the job

The product seemed to be made of aluminium or other metal. But it is exactly as described and does the job well. Recommend buying.
