WAS a Great little Ice Maker
In May I purchased this Igloo Ice maker. It is a great little machine that produces ice within about 6-8 minutes to produce ice. I would purchase from this company again. It worked fine for a couple of months, but unfortunately it started giving messages that it was out of water, when it wasn't and the ice machine stopped working. I contacted customer support through email, and called them. I spoke with a woman who asked me a few questions, and made a few suggestions, which ended up not working, but the kindness and customer service was awesome. They sent me a new icemaker and it came within 4 or 5 days (Came from California). Thanks for great customer support! Update: After receiving the replacement, it work pretty well for a few months. Then the second one stopped working. I have now had two in less than a year stop working. At this time, I would not recommend purchasing the Igloo 33lb option. I also noticed in some other reviews when I look deeper into them, that a few people experienced the same issue with this model. I believe there is some kind of defect, so I would wait, or purchase another brand. I should have invested more money into a better model, was wanted to keep it within affordability. I ended up investing almost $200 and now on my 3rd icemaker in less than a year. I didn't bother contacting the company again, because it is a hassle for me to return it. I am a senior with mobility issues. I do have to say, the company was really good about sending the replacement after the first one.

Really good product, love the ice it makes
I have been pleasantly surprised by this product. The ice it makes is very soft and easy to chew (which is what I like as I'm addicted to chomping on ice). I've had it for about 4 months, and it seems quite easy to maintain, refill, etc. If you don't empty the ice soon enough, it tends to clump a bit, but it's easy to separate. I'm impressed at how quickly it makes a batch. I recommend using filtered water and not standard tap water (tastes better). It pulls some decent wattage, so if you plan to use it in an RV, be prepared for that. But all in all, I love it!

Works great
Makes ice quickly, easy to clean, decent size, doesn't take up too much space on the countertop. Very happy with this purchase.

water turned into ice, melts and remakes same ice
OK it's an ice maker, that's about it. Ice is very wet ice but the hollow cube does cool drinks quickly, The ice cube area isn't cooled so ice melts quickly back into water which then makes more ice cubes. The ice cube tray sits above the water reservoir and as the ice melts it refills the reservoir until ice cubes are removed reducing the amount of water that would melt back into the reservoir. If ice cubes are not removed the ice maker will continuously make ice cubes that melt back into water... forever... Not very energy efficient. 33 pounds of ice per day? only if you remove the ice cubes as quickly as they are made... maybe. Who is going to stand there for 24 hours scooping out ice cubes. I use a aluminum quarter sheet baking pan and dump the ice cubes onto that and put into my freezer. Once completely frozen I bang and flex the baking sheet against a counter top to break up the frozen together ice cubs and then dump them into my freezer's ice cube bucket. (I have well water that's very hard and has a lot of iron in it which I don't want to make ice cubes from and have turned off the ice cube maker in the freezer, just push up the full bar that stops the freezer from making ice cubes), The water I use to make ice cubes is from a water distiller and then put through a reverse osmosis filter... those ice cubes I dump into the freezer ice cube bucket. If don't mind the extra effort to have good quality ice cubes and don't mind having to freeze the ice cubes this makes and then breaking up the frozen together ice cubes and then storing them in your freezer the ice cube maker works well enough. Although I never get any where close to 33 pounds of ice cubes per day. It takes making ice cubes several times to fill it's ice bucket (that I pour onto the baking sheet to go in the freezer. I don't stand there timing it but in the time that I'm awake I get about 4 bucket full which is several ice making cycles. Now the not so good side of it. If you leave it running over night expecting to have a full bucket of ice in the ice maker it's likely you won't find any ice in it. When the water level drops enough to where it says "add water" it stops making ice. Those ice cubes will have melted and the water level increases above the add water level but it doesn't re-start making ice. You have to turn off the ice maker and then turn it back on. If an ice cube doesn't slide down the ice cube ramp and blocks the sensor it stops making ice... but don't worry once all the ice cubes has melted it restarts making ice cubes. Or if you push that ice cube off that ramp it starts making ice cubes again too. Manufacturing quality - The QA doesn't seem very good. It makes ice cubes by moving a tray up under the refrigerated fingers which fills with water creating a coating of ice around those fingers (kind of like making dipped wax candles, but dipping into water instead of melted wax). The water tray moves out of the way and the ice slides off those fingers and down the ramp into the ice bucket... only problem is the fingers are not level from left to right with on my machine the right side fingers are lower then the left side. With small ice cubes it hasn't been a problem but with large ice cubes the ice form bridges across finger to finger and won't slide off. I had to turn the machine off and let it melt on it's own. Switching back to small ice cubes it worked ok. Is this machine better or worse then others? They all seem to work the same way. Doesn't look like any of the brands can store ice, looks like they all dip refrigerated fingers into a water bath and the ice cubes just melt back into water in a continuous cycle until enough ice cubes are removed that making ice cubes would reduce the water level to where it says add water. The machines are fairly cheap, doesn't take up a lot of counter space and will produce wet ice fairly quickly that with the hollow centers does have more surface area to cool liquids. The bucket of ice is enough for a quart sized ice tea glass. As a personal sized ice maker it works ok but if trying to supply ice for a family gathering it wouldn't produce enough ice quick enough for everyone with out first making ice a week ahead and storing the ice cubes in a freezer. I'm not a big ice cube user so it works out for me with storing the ice cubes in the freezer with spending a week of making ice cubes and freezing them, breaking up the frozen together cubes and putting into my freezer's ice bucket which makes it half full which would give me enough ice for a couple of weeks.

Not worth the money or insurance headache
Usually Igloo is a great product, but this ice machine didn't last 8 months before it stopped making ice. A friend purchased this machine through me for a birthday gift for his daughter back in March 2025, and she's been dealing with Assurion for a few months trying to get it repaired/replaced. Save your money, and invest in an Opal. I've had my 1B for over a year and purchased it used through OfferUp. I'm very disappointed in the quality that Igloo has put out, and will stick to their coolers only from this point on.

Quiet
Loving this icemaker. I think it is very quiet compared to others that I have had.. the ice does not melt really fast. The instructions on how to clean it are not very good. I run vinegar through it every two weeks. It holds 12 cups of water.

Small amounts of ice.
Makes ice but if the smallest piece of ice is near full sensor it stops making ice . You have to constantly knock it down or you will barely have any ice. I do love that it has a bright light to let you know it’s full though so just keep your eye on it.

I've only had it for a day but filled a bag of ice last night. Worker perfectly! After getting it, let it sit for the hour on a flat surface, cleaned it, put water in, 5 min later the first 9 pieces fell. ****Day 2 made more ice and tried large size cubes, 1 got stuck, happy I was keeping an eye on it. Back to small size cubes only.

Update its dead won't make ice fans died and it won't stay on bought it for Christmas 2021 Always used filtered water... I have to say it's absolutely beautiful works like it should.. But it's loud! And over priced my sister bought a way cheaper one different brand and you can barely hear it this one is very loud like a old fridge That's my only gripe about this Ice machine Other than that it is fast at making ice and comes with a scoop but with nowhere to hang it, you just leave it inside the machine
