I have a lot of peripherals...like really a lot. And some of them are a little sensitive about how they cooperate with hubs. I've blasted through quite a few smaller or more flimsy hubs, some of which wouldn't work with certain pieces of equipment. So I decided to get serious and get something that promised to supply enough ports and be solid enough to stand up to being hauled all over in my bag. And this is it. I haven't come close to running out of ports yet (I use mostly USB connections, the Ethernet connection and one elderly VGA -- I haven't used the video ports). I teach online and this allows me to connect all the bits and pieces I need (camera, microphone, iPad, writing tablet) and it also plays nicely with my steno machine and stenomask equipment. If it would charge the iPad while connected it would be six stars, but that hasn't been a deal-breaker. I like the shape where it's solid and three-dimensional, easy to find (yeah, that can be an issue with the small ones) and I especially like the detachable cord between the unit and the computer, since that's usually the point where cheaper or not-as-well-designed hubs break.

Overall the product was easy to install and works well. I have seen two products, from this company and in my opinion both are 5 star worthy. Basically once you have the software installed (included with provided flash drive card) everything is "plug and play". Straight to the point and clearly marked. I did have an issue with MY hardware and the type of USB output on MY laptop.(No fault of this hub or the maker or the hub) But customer service at this company really knocked it out of the park and ensured I was 100% satisfied. Will be saving this company for future tech purchases.

I've had this for three months so far as a docking station for my work laptop at home. It worked OK at first but now it no longer supports the extra monitor. I've switched out the cables several times to no avail. It runs stand alone keyboard and the power goes through for the laptop but it can no longer handle the monitor. It flickers constantly and has a static like appearance when it does show up. Cannot recommend as a docking station.

starting with the bad, it was a little tricky to get 3 monitors working on it with my HP x360, but it seemed to be equally the fault of the laptop as much as the dock. The plug spacing was just a hair too narrow to use the dual docking cable. that said i do need to call for assistance, and i hope to find a workaround the good is a better list. lots of ports, had more than enough for what i needed, which turned out to be good because i needed more plugs than i thought. responds even faster than the HP dock at work as far as waking up the pc and monitors. nice and compact so it doesnt take up a big chunk of desk

A new Macbook Pro deserves a device that can (easily) help drive a multi-monitor setup. The 17-1 UtechSmart docking station is a great, cost-effective way to do it. I'm a few weeks into using the device and no issues at all. I strongly encourage this device for anyone looking to extend USB-C ports, especially powering a multi-monitor setup. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is I wish found the UtechSmart 18-1 device that allows for the installation of SSD. This would have become my TimeMachine target, all built into a single, compact unit.
