I am a 300 lb woman with a good sized head and it fits me quite comfortably.

How far down the neck will it cover? Does it meet coat collar?

Yes ,if anything, it goes to far.

What is the difference between wooly and regular?

Wool is warmer whereas this trapper hat has "faux" fur which is synthetic but I'll tell ya, this hat is very warm and you don't have to handwash like you would with wool.
