One of the best groups from the Golden Age of Rock
The Hollies often get overlooked in discussions of the greatest music of the 70's. Coming from England, they were overshadowed by The Beatles, but they had more songs that hit the American Charts than The Beatles. While I liked the Beatles, I liked the Hollies much more. Their experiments in music always worked; something we can't say about the Beatles. Their harmony was outstanding; their musical choices were brave. Their rendition of "He ain't Heavy" is considered by many to be the best recorded. Their songs showed humor and I will stop going on about how much I, personally like the Hollies. Everything I have written is just my opinion. If you like music from the early 60's through the 70's, you owe it to yourself to sit down and listen to this CD. You'll probably forget all the songs they sang and the talent they possessed. (I wish they'd needed someone to write reviews in those days - I was in high school and college but I would have quit for them!)

A Pretty Comprehensive Collection
The Hollies always reminded me of The Beatles - interesting, inventive melodies; folky, jangly guitars; multi-layered harmonies - and that's probably why they caught my attention in the first place. This collection has the obvious hits you would expect: the excellent folk-rockish "Bus Stop", "He Ain't Heavy", "Long Cool Woman" and the gorgeous "Air That I Breathe". But it also includes songs that I remember as rather big hits that aren't heard frequently on radio these days, namely "Stop, Stop, Stop" and "Look Through Any Window". And lesser hits that I remember fondly, like "Just One Look" and "Pay You Back With Interest". Even a couple that I don't remember at all are pretty good: "Dear Eloise" and "King Midas in Reverse". The sound is mostly sharp and clear. "Bus Stop" sounds especially good. However, be forewarned that "Bus Stop" and some other tracks, like some Beatles tracks, have the vocals on one side of the stereo and the instruments on the other. That might bother some people, but I'm used to it. All in all, I'm satisfied and very happy that I bought this CD. I can't think of any significant song that was omitted from it.

Love the Hollies
I've always loved the Hollies. I got hooked on them when I first heard Bus Stop when I was in high school (a very long time ago). I bought this when it first came out. Somewhere along the way it disappeared, so I thought I would buy it again. I was pleasantly surprised to find The Air That I Breathe was added as a bonus track. (wasn't on the first release), It is their best song. This is great and sounds excellent. The case had a small crack, but you don't play the case, so makes no difference to me. The 3 songs that I wish they added in addition to The Air That I Breathe is I'm Alive, Magic Woman Touch, and Jesus Was a Cross Maker. This would have made this collection absolutely perfect. But as it is, the price was great and so is the c.d. Don't understand the bad rap on Carrie Ann, it sounds as it always has. The Hollies always had a place in my music collection. This is a 5 star c.d.

The only British group I liked
I was no fan of any group during the British invasion in the sixties but this was the one and only one that I liked.

Great CD of Classical Rock
This CD has all the greatest hits by the Hollies. Several of these hits are mega-classics from the 60s that live on: Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother, The Air That I Breathe. and others. Some best of CDs include so many songs you don't know half of them. This CD includes just the essential hits.
