Review: Works as expected! - This accessory controller enables certain alpine head units to be able to control up to 8 relays. I personally terminated the 8 grounding wires into an ethernet jack and used premade cat6 cable to run the 8 leads back to my relay center under my passenger side seat. From there I distribute the switchable lines to the lightbar and winch on the front grille guard. I have no complaints, the instructions were pretty clear and there's a community-made youtube video showing how to wire it as well. I would say that I'd really like it if the head unit wouldn't erase all the relay settings when you have to reset it, but I think that's a head unit concern, not a fault with the kac-001 controller. Even though the instructions say to run dedicated 12v leads, I found that if you have the maestro->kac->head unit chain plugged in properly, the kac-001 controller will get electricity from that. I think if you had 8 latch relays switched on the whole time it might draw more electricity than it should from the other devices, but if you plan on running only one or two at a time, I can attest that it works without connecting that extra 12V lead, though it is probably not recommended.
