Great little Camera, Could have a better FOV
The ATLI EON Time Lapse Camera has been great. It came with a silicone type case that is supposed to protect it from weather. I was skeptical, but it seems to be doing great. I have it mounted on a tripod and plugged into a solar charging battery backup pack, so mine always stays at 100%. I did this because it was draining the battery in a few hours of time lapsing a pool build. (1 shot every 2 sec.). THE GOOD: The image quality in the videos are great. I couldn't be happier with most of the camera. It is fairly easy to use, it has been rained on, and exposed to lots of dust, and it has never waivered. You can download straight from the app to your phone without moving the camera. I would set it up to record a max of 3 hours, and then start a new video, and every 3 hours I could download the last 3 hours while the camera continued to record. THE NOT SO GOOD (But not really bad): The biggest complaint I have it probably the Field of View (FOV). Maybe that's my lack of experience in photography and videography but, I would prefer a slightly wider angle than 72 degrees. The app is OK. once you figure everything out on it, it does good. and you can connect to the camera, set your shot, tell the camera to go, and then disconnect and walk away for the rest of the day. The app is a little buggy and sometimes shows bad previews, but every video I have pull off the camera has been perfect.

Poor picture quality, bad battery life, etc., does remember schedule in the cam.
I am repeating what others say. The picture quality is as good as a digital camera about 40 years ago, not even 720p. I just finished recording 8 hours of time lapse recording and when played the video it said "cannot play the video due to incompatible format" Cannot monitor or setup camera remotely through app so you got to just set it and leave it there not knowing if it is recording and cannot change settings as this is not a remote camera you can control from the phone away from the camera. The distance to communicate to camera is only a few feet then nothing. Focusing confusing because one instruction says all the way clockwise is infinity focus after 5 meters. Another says point arrow at light for infinity, which is not fully clockwise. Not only resolution is bad but color is bad even on bright sunny days. I wanted this because the iphone only allows 30 min time lapse. I recorded 5 hours and battery was dead at one shot every 10 seconds and the file was only 48 meg large but battery dead. There is no setting for higher resolution also. The camera works and worth $20 and good for a 5 year old to play with. There must be other time lapse cams out there. I plan to throw this camera away and but another one. To use the schedule the phone has to always be in range the whole time. In other words you cannot set the schedule to turn on and off unless the phone is nearby and connected to the camera. Even then the battery runs down because it is actually on the whole time. So you need a dedicated phone or tablet to use the schedule feature. Don't think you can set the schedule then walk away and have it turn on and off at the correct times. Need to have external battery pack because by the time it is scheduled to turn on the battery may have died already. The camera is actually on the whole time but not recording.

Love these little cameras, tons of uses!
Hi folks, I am a professional timelapse photographer, specializing in long term botanic timelapse. I have spend time working on botanic timelapse for Nat Geo, BBC, History, NZTV, Here is my take on the Atli EON. They are freaking awesome. I have always liked the idea of using action cameras for timelapse photographer because of their small size you can cram them about anywhere. Unfortunately, most action cam brands (I’ve used them all) are all severely lacking when it comes to timelapse photography. I was very excited when I first learned about the ATLI Eon, and then surprised to see a $199 price tag. So I decided to jump in and pick up a couple. Initial feelings when unboxing, I appreciate the packaging and effort to pay attention to detail. When you first open the box everything is well laid out. The camera itself felt sort of cheap initially, but once the battery was installed and the silicon protective cover was on, it felt much better. In fact it feels every bit as solid as offerings from DJI or GoPro. They come with a 16gb card, which I find it easy to fill up so I picked up some 64gb. You may be fine with 16, especially if just filming timelapse and not keeping the still image files. I was really impressed to see an actual ¼-20 tap in the bottom so it will work with traditional camera mounting systems. I always hated the gopro style connectors, so this was a nice surprise. It also comes with a mini tripod that works surprising well and feels very well made. There is a USB-C power connector (there is no data transfer over this port) and believe it or not, a little 2.5mm jack used for triggering events. This can be used to trigger motion control systems, and even other cameras believe it or not. If one is industrious enough and knows how to build Arduinos, you could even build it a little LED light which the Atli EON can trigger to turn on before it meters for an image. The memory card slot does not have access through the rubber case, which is not a big deal. Lets talk about the rubber case. Nowhere does Atli claim this is a weatherproof camera, but I have had them exposed to downpouring rain and so far they have survived quite fine. The case comes in two parts, one for the body, and another for the lens which comes with a built in UV filter. The rubber on the lens portion is flared allowing it to cover over the rubber on the body case where the lens protrudes, giving it extra weather protection. Lets talk about the lens for a moment. Manual Freaking Focus (read that again). Yes. Manual focus. I was so happy to see that. It offers pretty decent macro abilities, and has a notch when twisting the lens to know when it is focused for landscape. Never seen manual focus on something like this, huge bonus. Leave the AF for the action cams. This is NOT an action cam. Image quality. It appears to be every bit on par with any other action camera I have used. The timelapse recording is only 1080p, but so far I have been very unimpressed with the 4k efforts of the main action cam brands, so 1080p is fine with me. If you capture with the Video and Photo record option, you will get 2688x1520 resolution jpegs, so if you want a little extra wiggle room on resolution you can always render the videos yourself after massaging the image files in your favorite program. Battery life. Upwards of 100 hours of filming. 100 hours. And I have tested this, and yes, I have managed 100 hours. The system can run in an ultra low power mode for long term captures. And if provided a USB power source will run indefinitely. Just for fun I set one up with a small solar USB panel and generally it works pretty well. When the sun hits the solar panel the camera charges up. When the sun goes down it runs off battery and then recharges the next day. It has not been completely reliable in this configuration, but it was a hacked together solution. Atli has been hinting that they are coming out with an all weather long term setup that can run off solar as well. Control is pretty good. There is no display on the camera, just an LED. Everything is done through the app which gives a good live view. If running off battery you can connect them to your wifi network and they will stay up and connected making it pretty easy to access them. If not connected to the network just tap the power button and the camera will wake up and turn on its wifi and you can access it. This works pretty well, I have not had much issue connecting to any of the 11 I now use. The controls provide quite a few options, you can just have it start recording, or you can build out pretty complex scheduling with them as well. It also offers an IR mode for IR timelapse and photography. For my own work I have found these to be incredibly handy. Good for behind the scenes footage of my robots filming plants. Another handy use is when I get a new plant with intent to film it, I can immediately put a could atli’s on the plant to study the behavior and ensure it is staying in good health. I have used them to film caterpillars eating, ants tunneling, flowers blooming, the list goes on. In summary, for $199 you get a LOT of bang for your buck. If you keep your expectations for image quality to that of your typical action cams and not that of a full frame camera you will not be disappointed. As I mentioned, I have 11 of these now and constantly find myself experimenting around with them. They have all performed wonderfully. I cant recommend these enough whether you are a seasoned timelapse photographer, or if you’re are new looking for a fun way to get started. The team at ATLI has really nailed it with this design.

If you can use it with the app I bet its awesome
Found the camera to be well made, good construction, clean looks, sturdy. The body cover and lens hood make handling easy. Liked the tripod. A fair amount of time was spend on design and material choices. The issue I had was purely a compatibility issue with iPhone 11 pro max - phone doesn’t like the app or the app doesn't like the phone. I was elated that someone in tech support in China was reachable at that very minute I was desperate and losing my patience. The service rep attempted to walk me through various troubleshooting but determined it was a rare instance of incompatibility and apologized many times. Had I not needed something right now I would have kept it and waited until they could work through the issue. I was happy with everything up until the point if using it. I was impressed by their responsiveness and the quality of the camera which might be helpful to someone.

Fun, but perhaps a bit “buggy”. Cheap optics and long download times.
I like this little camera, it’s a lot of fun. I’ve been using it making time-lapses off our deck, looking for wildlife etc. I love the ability to view the video on the fly. After a while you catch on to the nuances of the camera and discover what it can do. Dig around in the app and you can control the camera manually. Don’t like it’s softness, sharpen the image a bit...etc. Discovered quite by accident that the camera does a good job of recording stars. So it’s not my iPhone 11 on a tripod, but it’s quite a lot of fun. You can sit in your house and preview the videos or survey your domain. Added 1/17/21, what I wish this camera had is HDR on par with my iPhone 11 and sharper optics. UPDATED 2/7/21, Camera died on me, we’ll see how well the seller follows up on the warranty process. UPDATED 2/19/21, Seller sent me a replacement camera very promptly. As soon as I upgraded it to the latest firmware, it started acting “buggy”, locking up, losing connection..etc. Working with the seller I was able to roll back the FW on my two cameras and they both recovered. I still like the camera. It does seem like it’s a bit buggy, the camera’s tend to lose connection frequently. You have to become an expert at understanding the app to use them successfully. A product with a lot of potential. Needs more robust firmware and better optics. This camera will not take pictures with the sharpness and dynamic range of your iPhone. Updated 6/22, My cameras are still working, but I don’t spend much time making lapses on them. You’re better off getting a web cam and setting it in Timelapse mode.

Excellent durability and customer service!
This is a great camera and with the new UI redesign makes using it and scheduling a lot more intuitive. Couple standouts, this thing is crazy durable. I have had it mounted outside where it routinely is subjected to -10 degree and lower temps in the winter and above 110 in the summer. This still performs flawlessly. Recently after changing wifi and having to reconnect it, I noticed the battery began to bulge a little. I couldn't find anywhere to order a replacement battery so contacted the company with my question. They responded within 24 hours and simply asked for a shipping address and shipped 2 replacement batteries out within the week for free. Its amazing these days to get that kind of service. I would highly recommend this camera, not only for the quality and performance, but the customer service I have experienced!

Useful, .. buggy, but the bugs aren't deal breakers
If you want to take time lapse video and photos, then it will do that, and you probably won't be disappointed with the results. It can take video, or video and JPEG photos, has good battery life, you can set it and forget it then collect it later. Solid, and the hardware works well. The app, however, is very buggy. It has trouble connecting to its camera a fair amount of the time. Once connected, I've also had problems STOPPING the time lapse, and have had to literally just turn the camera off to get it to stop recording because the app won't do it. Edit, I want to clarify here, .. this is more of an issue if the camera isn't plugged into a USB power source, it seems to have more problems with wifi as its battery drains, and in any case you have to be very close to the camera, this isn't a wifi connection that works from room to room, it only works a few feet away at most. The app also has an annoying bug where if the device is connected to a network, but can't get to the Internet, then it will just keep crashing over and over. This is not an issue if the device you are running the app on has no sim card, for example if it is a phone and you are just using it over wifi, in that case if you don't have a connection to the Internet it brings up an error that says "No Internet" and works fine. But if you have a phone that has a sim, and that sim for whatever reason can't get you on the Internet, then the app crashes over and over and you can't use the camera. The only solution that I'm aware of is to either get connected to the Internet, or take the sim out of your device.

Good camera for time lapse
Ok I have to say this is a good time lapse camera for the money. I had a problem with my first camera and sent it back through Amazon so I received another and it does fine. My recommendation is to set the sharpness setting to +15 to get the maximum sharpness out of the lens. This camera only has one playback rate which is 25 fps which does good. Another thing this camera has is adjustable ISO and shutter speed settings which comes in handy for adjusting exposures if needed. It does help if you have a photography background for using manual exposure controls. It also does auto exposure too. I would recommend this camera for anyone starting a hobby of time lapse.

Don’t waste your money
I wasn’t expecting to much but I was expecting at least HD quality. The video quality is shocking looks ok if played back on a phone but on even my desktop it’s blurry no definition and flickers as the light changes. My mobile phone can produce much better quality video then this A complete waste of money
