How many amps does it use per cycle. I'm going full time solar?

Nameplate says unit draws 1.6 amps during ice making operation, and 2.6 amps during ice harvest. In my experience, the unit runs about 95% in ice-making mode. In our experience, cycle times are about 15 to 20 minutes per batch after first batch.

Does the ice melt if you don’t take it out right away?

No the ice does not melt right away. We leave our unit on all the time as our main ice maker. This is a great product.

Whats it mean when the green lights flashing and not making ice?

Can you put a 5gallon water tank on this?

No. It has a built-in storage area for the water which holds about a quart. When it needs water to be added, a red light comes on. It makes great ice, but is not intended for commercial use.
