can it be used upside down?

I don't see why not. You open the sprinkler head by twisting the top. So I suppose it would work upside down with my problem.

How Can it be connected to standard hose?

It can be connected by purchasing a adapter from standard hose thread to a standard 1/2" pipe thread that are sold at most hardware stores or online.

Do these attach directly to 1/2” dripline?

No, this will attach to the top of our Orbit risers.
