I used to use fabric softener, but the residue that left in the washing machine was still affecting later loads of laundry and my housemate asked me to stop using fabric softener altogether. Everyone else in the house uses this specific detergent (something I did not notice at first) which keeps all of the laundry in the house safe for this housemate. It's still a perfectly good detergent, has all the qualities I would expect (viscosity, cleans my clothes) except the usual fragrance.
