These large Lamson rubber mats are great for use on kitchen counters. They can withstand heat, and provide safety when used with slippery objects. For example, when one is opening glass jars with tight lids, the jar is more stable when placed on the mat. The mats look attractive in the kitchen, and can cover up imperfections in an older counter, or protect a new one from damage. The downside for me was the cost of purchase through a third-party seller outside of Canada. I would have liked to have bought these additional Lamson mats directly from Amazon.ca as I did my original ones. These have an arrival date far later than I would prefer, especially when they are meant as gifts. Amazon should still be stocking them.
