Can you cook two eggs instead of four

Yes. I always cook mine for 9 minutes. Where I don't stick to the instructions strictly is I use more water than 1 measuring device full. I use 3-4 of them. You are steaming the eggs. Cooked 3 less than an hour ago with mine. 4 little plastic cups of water at 9 minutes. Came ut perfect. I've done 2 before. You are steaming them, and I tried and discovered mre water doesn't hurt, just not too much. I've also cooked 4 and put two in a container in the refrigerator for the next day. Bought mine direct from the company.

Won't eggs explode in the microwave? How does this work?

No, the eggs won't explode.  The product has aluminum insert liners that shield the microwave energy from cooking the eggs directly.   Instead, the water that you pour in the unit drips to the bottom through the holes in the bottom insert.  The water is then boiled by the microwave energy and that is what actually cooks the eggs.

Anyone who experienced the eggs exploding is for some reason removing the top aluminum insert.   In the exploded egg review pictures, you never see the top aluminum insert in place.   You can see egg splattered inside the top plastic dome cover, but that couldn't happen if the insert were in place.
Do not use without the inserts and the eggs will not explode.

Fill water up to line indicated (use measuring device included).  Lock top onto bottom, place in microwave, set for 9 minutes.   Leave in microwave for 2 minutes to cool down.  Remove top carefully, leave eggs in and run under cold water for 2 minutes, replace top and  shake 10 times to crack shells.  Remove top and easily remove shells from eggs.

Can this be used to coddle eggs?

In my experience, coddled eggs are done in individual ceramic containers, each with one egg that is not in the shell. I can’t see how this device could do that.
