A decent desktop DAC+AMP at a great price
For $200, it's really hard to beat this DAC. I like to listen to music at work, but the PC audio of my work computer is awful. I had a portable DAC+AMP, but it finally bit the dust. I rolled the dice on this, and I'm incredibly surprised. First of all, this was pretty much plug-and-play. Set up just involved plugging in the USB and power, and turning it on. In my experience, most USB DAC setups in Windows can be finnicky to say the least- more so true the cheaper the device. Even though it was playing fine out-of-the-box, I did install the drivers from the website afterwards and then upgraded the firmware, and again it was hassle-free. The sound is very good, if not a little uninteresting. It's clear, clean, and very neutral. Which is certainly fine, but so unremarkable it's hard to comment about it. But hey, that's a pass in my books. It does support very high PCM and DSD bitrates, which for the price is phenomenal. The amp is serviceable. I doubt anyone who's considering a $200 desktop amp has a pair of Sennheiser HE1s, so for its target audience, it's certainly powerful enough to drive a decent pair of headphones. With that said, anything with more impedance than a set of mid-range cans, and I would have my doubts. I did try the bluetooth capability on my Pixel 6 Pro. The sound was very very clear and clean- there were no hiss or static coming through, and the stream was at a high quality bitrate with LDAC enabled. There was of course a bit of lag, but it wasn't atypical of most BT playback. The display is easy to see. The wheel is stiff and clicky, so there's little chance of bumping into the knob and rupturing your eardrums. It's reasonably small, enough to fit most desk spaces. Generally, the build quality seems to be really good considering the cost. Wherever they cut the corners, it wasn't on the case. There are a few very minor annoyances. The power supply is very short, and since it's a 15v power supply, it's a somewhat odd voltage to replace. I also wish that there were more buttons, so that I don't have to rely on the clicker as much. Overall, it's a fantastic buy- especially for an audiophile that's a beginner, someone on a budget, or just looking for a DAC+AMP that punches well above its weight class.

Elevate Your Ears to Audiophile Heaven
This thing supports DSD512, so those high-resolution tracks are delivered with the clarity of a mountain stream—so pure and detailed, you can almost hear the conductor's breath in a symphony. The NFCA headphone amp? Oh, it’s a beast. My old headphones came to life in ways I didn’t know were possible, hitting every note from the deepest bass to the crispiest high like it was nothing. And let's talk about its looks—it's got a minimalist vibe that screams 'I mean business'. It's so stylish yet unobtrusive, blending perfectly with any setup without screaming for attention. Yet, once you hear what it does to your music, it’s all you’ll want to talk about. Bottom line, if you're serious about sound, the Topping DX3 Pro+ isn’t just a good investment; it’s a must. It's turned my average playlist into an audiophile’s dream and absolutely spoiled me for anything less. Now excuse me while I go lose myself in some FLAC files for the next few hours—or days.

It works, could use some reliability tweaks
It works you plug the power in and plug the usb in. Though every now and again it stops working like windows stops recognizing the device. The fix is to unplug everything and replug it back in. Other than that for what it cost the minor inconvenience is overlookable. Build quality is good the knob is tactile and it plays nice with my older gen schitt amp. I had to replace the older schitt dac when windows decided that the usb controller is no longer supported. I bought an all in one amp/dac from schitt never again it is a paper weight. Bad interference separate systems is better sound quality and easier to upgrade.

HUGE bang for the buck!
I've purchased a few items from Topping though Amazon, also recommended to friends. I'm a very experienced audio enthusiast, also been involved with sales of some of the best audio gear in the world. I'm continually astonished how Topping can produce such high quality products that perform so well at very affordable prices. The manufacturers of kilo-buck bling products continually denigrate many Chinese manufacturers as being poorly made as well as producing sub-par sound quality, which isn't true, at least in the case of Topping. Disassembling this unit shows high quality surface mount components with what appears to be the same standard of assembly that the bling boys use. You didn't think that those laser etched faceplates and jewel like appearance was free, now, did you?

Ease of use on BT connectivity is EXTREMELY irksome
The immersive headphone experience is a special time, I fire this up and every time it is not connected to my phone via blue tooth. I reset, push buttons put it in pairing mode and nothing. Likely some other device has it (I have 4 laptops, 3 desktops, countless tablets, fire sticks, TV's...) Every other device connectivity is intuitive and a breeze. With this even with the manual in hand sitting in front of the device I fail to connect. As such, sitting right in front of the unit seems should be enough but no... it seems I need the remote. I then dig it out of my electronics drawer only to be irritated again by a process and buttons that have no intuitive choices. So it is back to the manual. I HATE this product with a passion because when I want to use it only pain follows often 20 minutes of dicking around to get it connected at which point the magic of what it could provide is lost. 0 stars hate this product.

Stellar Performance DX3 Pro+ USB DAC for Gaming PC audio
Top Tier Product! Thank you for the DX3 Pro+. I use this as a DAC to not have to use the on board audio on my gaming PC. The audio quality and performance of this has been nothing but stellar. I have been on the fence for a couple years trying to decide if i want a DAC let alone if I would even enjoy the quality... all I can say is why the F didn't I do this a long time ago.

Good for headphone systems, but not really for loudspeaker systems
Have decided to update this review. This unit will sound what I would call "minorly decent" as a headphone DAC feeding to an external amplifier, or as a combined unit itself. I also tested this DX3 Pro+ DAC in my loudspeaker system and it did not sound good. I will explain why. These Sabre ESS DACs all have the problem of a "hollow" mid-range. This is actually well known among the HiFi crowd. This is like the analogy of hollowing out a apple with the core missing and having the "meat and potatoes" left out of the sound signature. You can EQ or DSP your way out of the mid-range issues with a parametric EQ using a +5 decibel peak around 500 Hertz, lower the noise floor to account for the 5 DB peak (to avoid clipping) and set a width of about Q-0.5 (I did this in Roon). Still it has that hollow mid-range even with EQ. The hollow mid-range issues are not as apparent on headphone systems I have found, but on my $7k loudspeaker system it's highly apparent and makes it non-listenable. This is a issue with these DACs that are based on Sabre chips. If you don't believe me,I have actually confirmed this as I have owned three DACs with this same sound profile and same company's Sabre chips the; (SMSL M500 Mark 2, Schiit unit, and this DX3 Pro+). I would try and get a DAC that has a FGPA like a Chord Mojo 2, Burr Brown Texas Instruments chips or a Analog Devices (AD) chipset. I have yet to hear a Sabre system sound natural with a dark and rich and full mid-range and I have had 3 systems with this company's chips including a "Pro" unit in the SMSL I mentioned. Then on top of all of this when I was doing my reviews and comparisons the DX3 Pro+ analog single-ended outputs all malfunctioned and got a hissing sound forcing me to return the unit to Amazon. If you're a headphone user I would just get one of the AD-based chipset Schiit DACs (multi-bit they call them, sometimes TI Burr Brown) or a Chord Mojo 2. Even if these alternative manufacturer units are more expensive for you to buy I would still go for these units instead because of the tonality and timbre issues I discussed in this review. The DX3 Pro+ will not be a fun listen. I've been into HiFi for about 20 years now and own 20-30k in gear currently.

Good sound, died with in a year and warranty could not fix it
Topping DX3 Pro+ sounded good and was perfect for my PC setup. I connected it to JBL LSR 300 and some headphones and really liked the sound from headphones. I could not hear any difference between the onboard DAC and dx3pro+ with my speakers. Despite that the convenience of switching between speakers and headphones with a click of remote was good. The amplifier section really made my headphones shines, I have some Hifiman which really liked the amp. The sound was clean and clear. Unfortunately, it died within a year. It started playing some noise now from both, speakers and headphones. I tried multiple PCs and multiple headphones with same result. As it does come with warranty, I reached out to the seller, "Schenzen audio" and they promptly connected me to someone in China. They asked me to ship it to China (A big shout out to them for taking care of shipping charges both ways as that is expensive). I shipped it, they fixed it, and it came back with same exact problem. So even though it comes with warranty, and they were nice to cover shipping cost (which was almost 70 bucks with tracking with USPS), their tech could not fix it. So I am guessing it did not go to Topping but to seller. At this point I just write it off as a bad purchase.

Equipment: Yamaha A-S300, Topping DX3 Pro+, Beyerdynamic DT900 pro X, AudioQuest Forest USB, Oehlbach Silver Express Cinch.

Paired with focal clear OGs or koss ksc75s
Great quality dac/amp combo. Doesn’t impact the sound (and it shouldn’t).
