I'm a fan of BulkSupplements
I became a fan of BulkSupplements with my very first order. Like some others here, I track my food so I know that my diet is potassium deficient. With Bulk I can adjust my dose to get just what I need, which is sometimes impossible with supplements in pill form. I like that I don't have to worry about stearates or pollutants. I just wanted potassium and that's all that's in the bag. The package I got had over 1800 servings for around $15. I haven't found a better deal anywhere. I read the reviews before ordering and I noticed that many people said that they had improved sleep with this product. I did not think I had any sleep problems, I slept okay, got up once to go to the bathroom during the night, then went back to sleep. I've never been a morning person because I feel like crap when I get up in the morning. I feel ill and it takes an hour or so to start feeling normal. I started using this potassium citrate and zinc orotate, also from Bulk. A week later I have stopped getting up in the night at all. I'm sleeping right through the night and I don't feel so crappy when I wake up. I didn't think I had any problem in this area, yet I've seen an improvement. There is an old adage that's often applied to food and supplements: "Good, fast, cheap. You can only get two out of three. If it's good and fast, it won't be cheap. If it's fast and cheap, it won't be very good." With Bulk I thought to myself that it's good quality, cheap price, so it won't be fast. Weighing out my doses is going to take time, or maybe it will take a month to get my order. I was wrong on both counts. My order arrived in two days and weighing out a dose takes only a second. I was surprised at how little time it takes. Sure it's not as fast as just popping a pill, but it really only takes a few extra seconds - for me, it is time well spent. If you are going to go to the trouble to supplement, you might as well use the best product you can get, even if it takes 2 extra seconds out of your day. With a cheap digital scale, weighing takes almost no time. What takes a long time is shopping for vitamins: researching, reading all the fine print on all the bottles, researching the contaminants trying to decide which contaminants I'm willing to expose myself to, etc. I think that Bulk is going to save me hours of shopping time over a year. Bulk Supplements has done the "impossible" and provided all three: good, cheap, and fast. I'm going to be ordering from Bulk again in the near future. I take a lot of supplements, so as I run out of each one, I plan to replace it with a Bulk product.

Grateful for a bulk source of potassium.
I started on a ketogenic diet a couple of months ago, and as anyone knows who has tried it, the pickins are slim when it comes to potassium. The majority of potassium is contained in plant sources such as dark leafy vegetables and grains, and those aren't always doable while doing keto (in fact, grains are off limits). Red meat contains some potassium, but I can't get enough of that in a day. Fish is an excellent animal-based source of potassium, but I just don't like it. :-P Soon after I started my diet it was clear that I was lacking potassium; I had a lot of muscle weakness and some other minor symptoms. It was frustrating not to be able to find anything stronger than 99 mg of potassium when I was literally lacking thousands of mg a day. After consulting with my doctor I was given the go-ahead (encouraged, even) to take as much potassium as I need (I count my potassium intake via food sources every day and supplement accordingly). I'm really happy with this purchase. The potassium comes in a durable pouch with a durable zipper and the pouch stands up on its own. The crystals are a bit bigger than that of standard table sugar or salt. It dissolves readily in water or any other beverage of choice. I have personally found that I need to take small amounts throughout the day because if I don't I get kind of a "heavy" feeling in my muscles that's hard to describe. This potassium citrate contains 36% elemental potassium, so 1/8 tsp = 257 mg. On BulkSupplement's website, they recommend no more than 275 mg of potassium citrate a day, so be sure to do the right thing and check with your doc before taking more than that. In summary, I'm very happy with the packaging and the quality of the product and will be back to purchase this item again. Thanks for making this available, BulkSupplements. :)

Impression, dosage, tips
I ordered it as a supplemental source of potassium. I did not want pills, as they always contain excipient ingredients. Unlike lite salt (which also contains potassium) this is a bulk product that contains no sodium. Great! Also, its citrate has two side side benefits: 1) Citrate intake helps to prevent the most common type of kidney stone. 2) Citrates inhibit an enzyme that supports one stage of glycolysis, making them useful in reduction of high blood sugar levels. My visual inspection of the powder I received showed no clumping. That testifies to the thorough sealing and air tightness of its packaging, because potassium citrate is very hygroscopic. I looked for obvious contamination, but saw no foreign matter in it. And it dissolved readily in filtered tap water. Potassium citrate formula : C6H5K3O7 So there are 3 atoms of K per molecule of potassium citrate. Thus, potassium citrate is comprised of (3ร39) / 306 = 38% potassium (K) With my AWS model AC-100 100 gram digital scale I measured a ยผ US cup volume of Bulk Supplements Potassium Citrate granules to be 63 grams. Since ยผ US cup = 12 US tsp, and the USA adult DV of K is 4700 mg, we have for this supplement : ยฝ tsp = 2625 mg C6H5K3O7; 998 mg K; 21% DV 1 tsp = 5250 mg C6H5K3O7; 1995 mg K; 42% DV 2 tsp = 10,500 mg C6H5K3O7; 3990 mg K; 85% DV 3 ยผ tsp = 17,053 mg C6H5K3O7; 6480 mg K; 138% DV So the 275 mg serving ( which is only 0.05 tsp ) labeled on this powder's Supplement Facts is insignificantly small. That dose provides only 2% USA adult DV, which is incorrectly labeled as a 3% DV for K. The next richest supplementary source of K ( to this citrate powder ) is Morton Lite Salt, but 2 US tsp of it would be required daily in order to get 80% DV of K, and that would mean an intake of 96% of the sodium DV. TIPS In general, American adults are recommended to get at least 4,700 mg (100% DV) of potassium daily, while limiting daily sodium to 1,500 mg. But most Americans are not meeting either goal. See the two USDA reports: 'Potassium Intake of the U.S. Population' and 'Sodium Intake of the U.S. Population'. Perhaps the U.S. National Library of Medicine has set the potassium DV absurdly high? The Austrailian Ministry of Health has set their adult men's DV at 81% as high as the USA's, and their adult women's DV is only 60% as high as the USA's. The richest dietary source of potassium (K) is not a banana, but chard. However, it is extremely high in oxalate. A baked potato (with skin), is richer in K than a banana, but one would have to consume five of them per day in order to obtain 100% of the USA adult DV of K ! Extended release potassium citrate tablets are prescribed as a long term therapy for treating calcium oxalate kidney stones. The daily intake of those tablets totals 6400 mg as four equally spaced doses. These patients are also advised to restrict their dietary oxalate intake, while increasing their intake of water. CAUTION There is a purity issue with this Chinese product. Bulk Supplements did not provide a certificate of analysis with the package. That should be a document prepared by an independent 3rd party. Had they provided an acceptable report I would've given this product a 5-star rating.

good buy
Hereโs a 5-star review for **BulkSupplements.com Potassium Citrate Powder (1kg, 2.2 lbs)**: --- This potassium citrate powder is pure, effective, and exactly what I was looking for. It mixes easily in water or juice with no strange taste, and itโs a great way to supplement potassium without extra fillers. I like that itโs lab-tested, gluten-free, and comes in a large, resealable bag. It lasts a long time and gives me great value for the price. Highly recommended for anyone needing clean potassium support.

Not flavorless
This potassium citrate from bulk supplements is the best on the market. It is just pure potassium no fillers. The serving size is 1/8 tsp as far as I can tell reading online but I've taken 1/4 tsp just fine. It is NOT flavor free. It has a odd taste to it, almost bitter if taken with just water. I have to take it with juice to hide the horrible flavor. I prefer taking it in powder form because the price point is better and I can control the dose without taking more pills. I also have to take it with food or my stomach gets messed up. My stomach is pretty sensitive to supplements though. 10/10 once you get past the flavor

Good potassium supplement
Nice potassium supplement. Great for keeping a good mineral balance. I used to work as a product designer, developer and sourcing agent, as well as a buyer for big box retail, so I can be pretty rough on quality issues. My pet peeves include bad descriptions or instructions, plastic on metal construction (doomed to fail), planned obsolescence, and Sellers selling items they know donโt work. I mean, how many people have to tell you it doesnโt work until you see that and change the manufacturing process? I review products on hand selection by small, foreign or startup companies who launch new or innovative products often ask consumers to test drive their products to obtain feedback and for market exposure. They know that even focus group information can be gamed by a savvy marketing group to say what the seller wants to hear, or to rephrase negative opinions of a product that the consumer might want the maker or seller to know. And then, value for money is something that sellers donโt have a good handle on, especially foreign ones who donโt know what the market will bear, and often, setting a fair market value for a product is hard to do with a new product, since more than cost of goods factor in. Often, sellers will make a product that is too expensive due to excellent formulations or high quality materials or make that the consumer just wonโt bear โ or perhaps they will. The fact is, no one really knows until the product goes to market at a certain cost and then the consumers will ultimately decide whether the product is a good value for money. I feel that I provide help to other consumers by offering my opinion on certain products so that they can make an informed choice, before they purchase a product with their hard-earned money. Because of my background, I can often spot things others might not be looking for and also see problems that might not be immediately apparent until after youโve owned the product a while. There are plenty of poor quality products out there, as well as really good ones that no one knows about as of yet. Iโm hoping you find this explanation of why you should believe my reviews, rather than just assuming Iโll write anything for a discounted product to be helpful and understand my approach to reviewing products. I guess my motivation in offering to review products is to bridge the gap between the sellers and the customers by critically evaluating products on Amazon. Since so many Asian or new vendors sell directly using Amazonโs warehousing programs, the pass-through of my old job as a product developer and buyer is absent on Amazon, and customers, like me, are left without a resource to the pass-through of a critical and experienced eye. And I buy practically everything in my household on Amazon. Yes, some of the reviews on Amazon will be from reviewers who game the system by getting discounts for writing reviews. I can assure you that my reviews are different because I actually do care about the quality of the items I receive. I donโt need a house full of junk for pennies on the dollar and I can afford to buy anything that I would want. And I would never write reviews for money. Thatโs just unconscionable. You should know that some people actually do that and that that is against Amazonโs policies. However, a discount (not always a large one) for customer evaluation, is legitimate, and itโs up to you to read the review and to see whether the one or two lines of โitโs greatโ or โworksโ, is enough to convince you to purchase. Personally, I never listen to the one or two line reviews with hardly any specifics as to why a product works as it should, how it performed or problems with the product if they have the discount disclaimer because I know that some people of limited means are trying to just get discounted items without any understanding that you would not appreciate that product when you paid many multipliers of what they paid. So, Iโm adding this lengthy disclosure to my review: I purchased this item with my own money or on my own account at a discount for the purposes of evaluating the item. I received no compensation for this review and I am not required to give this item a positive review. I am also not associated with the manufacturer in any way. I am brutally honest in my reviews because I buy a lot of products on Amazon myself and I donโt want to order something that doesnโt live up to the hype. If you look at my other reviews, youโll see that if I am not happy with a product, I won't hesitate to tell it as it is. Iโve left quite a few 1 or 2 star reviews for products that were of poor or questionable quality, regardless of any discount I may have received. Believe me, my time evaluating products / writing these reviews and my reputation is worth more than a few shekels and I never buy stuff I wouldnโt normally use. I like to think that I help people make good buying decisions and that I offer my real opinions for the products I review. [...] I donโt get anything but satisfaction of knowing that Iโve helped from your helpful votes.

Very Impressed
I am thoroughly impressed with this product. The potassium citrate dissolves in water almost instantly upon pouring it in. Little or no stirring is required. It doesn't have much of a taste, so it's not unpleasant to drink in just water. I actually mix it with a Bulk Supplements magnesium citrate which doesn't mix as easily. Even then, it's still palatable. (I chug it down anyway, but it wouldn't be awful if I took my time with it either AND you can mix it in a smoothie or protein shake or whatever.) Against their precautionary warnings on dosage, I use about a teaspoon per day. I've had intermittent problems with cramps in my gastrocnemius and soleus (calf muscles) ever since I was put on a prescription medication called Accutane about 18 years ago. I started running 3 months ago, and the gastroc cramps have occurred in the middle of a run and forced me to limp home the rest of the way, stretching every 20 feet or so. Some mornings, when I first wake up and stretch in bed, the calf cramps will hit me and I just want to scream because my calf muscle(s) start automatically tightening painfully. I use an app to track my diet...calories, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, nutrients, etc. I paid particular attention to my daily potassium intake, and even with bananas and potassium pills, I was still coming short of the RDA of about 3,500 mg per day. I was lucky to get 2,500 mg/day on my best day. So I decided to give this product a try. I received it earlier this week and I've been on it for about 4 days. I haven't had the chance to run this week, but I'll update this review in the future to let you know if the calf cramps have stopped which I fully expect. UPDATE 09/11/2014: I have not had a calf cramp while running since I began using this product. I haven't tested the effect with stretching upon waking; I avoid plantarflexion during that morning stretch out of fear cramps will occur. But the running is the more functional activity I was having problems with. Now, I don't have that problem. Cause and effect of potassium citrate consumption? I don't know. But I can't think of any other things in my diet that have changed much since I started using it, so I tend to credit the potassium citrate for it. Some supplements work, some supplements don't, some take a long time to realize the benefit. This appears to be one of the few that works immediately. Again, I would highly recommend this product. UPDATE: 12/02/2014: I ordered another package of potassium citrate as my original 250g package is getting low. I am still taking a half a teaspoon to a full teaspoon per day. I have not had calf cramps, not even once, since I started using this product.

Bought to diy LMNT (they have the recipe on their website) and this is one of the ingredients. Works well, dissolves easy enough. Would recommend.

I can finally sleep.
I've always been a heavy sweater, it was never a problem in my youth, 3 kids later and pushing 40 I developed debilitating nocturia which has destroyed my ability to sleep and made my life very difficult. Since taking this, instead of getting up 5-15 times a night, it's been a consistent 1 time. If I have a busy day and forget to take it, there's a noticeable difference. Given how huge and affordable this bag is I feel like I might be able to sleep through the night forever now.

Would recommend.
Product is great. Would recommend adding a desiccant sachet and checking the correct RDI as the company has a habit of suggesting much higher amounts than the average RDI.
