This has been great, but there have been many times where I have wanted to know what a more traditional interpretation might be. My only problem is that I am using the Shadowscapes Tarot Deck which is Rider-Waite based but is not the traditional Rider-Waite deck. This means that the standard tarot explanation books don't really meet my needs for the moment. After seeing Benebell Wen's recent blog post review of this book I purchased it. It is exactly what I was hoping to find. I like the affirmations and that the book doesn't have spreads and everything else. It is just a general review of the cards that can be used with any deck, but it is still pretty darn thorough. As a complete beginner, this is really helping me to develop my own interpretations and not feel like I have to see and memorize every last detail of a particular deck in order to read tarot. While this will not be my only tarot book, I am really satisfied with it as my first. If you want more detail, please refer to Benebell Wen's review on her blog. Review: perfect for personal transformation, healing, and psychological work - If you are interested in using Tarot as a tool for healing and self-development, or just to spark some creative insight, this book is the absolute best on the market, hands down. I own a bunch of Tarot books and this is the one that has become my default. Liz Worth takes the traditional meanings of the cards and reinterprets them so they are extremely applicable to our day-to-day life. For each card in the deck (INCLUDING every single minor arcana card, which most books neglect) she devotes 6-8 pages of different ideas, suggestions, and insights to spark your inspiration. And at the end of every card are 10 questions that help you get to the heart of what the card might be speaking to as far as applying it to your own situation. They serve as perfect topics for meditation or journaling prompts. This isn't fluff, though- there's some hard hitting stuff in here. This book has been so tremendous for me- it's helped me take Tarot, which I had been using as sort of a boost for inspiration and a tool for meditation, and really utilize it as a tool for growth and insight into my own attitudes and behaviors. There's a lot of information in this book that really makes me see things in a different perspective. I can't recommend this book enough- if I only could have one book on Tarot, it would be this.
