Review: I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would - No need for a long review from me. What you need to know is this: I bought this game on a lark as a long term Final Fantasy fan, and came away truly, and unexpectedly, blown away by this game. Fun gameplay, a cool class system, an absolutely bonkers (and surprisingly engaging) story, and great music. Is it Elden Ring? No, nor is it trying to be. Strangers of Paradise is its own beast, and a surprisingly good one. A good game, you should check it out. Review: Souls Meets Final Fantasy - This game is loads of fun. Not the strongest story of the series, but I liked the gameplay even more than Final Fantasy VII Remake. The combat seems more intuitive. Very difficult at times, but nothing you can't overcome with some practice and focus!

Souls Meets Final Fantasy
This game is loads of fun. Not the strongest story of the series, but I liked the gameplay even more than Final Fantasy VII Remake. The combat seems more intuitive. Very difficult at times, but nothing you can't overcome with some practice and focus!

Regrets, I've had a few. But then again, too few to mention.
This game has some flaws and can use some QOL improvements, but god damn that was a great experience. I would highly recommend this game to fans of FF1. If you aren't familiar with that story than you might miss out a bit. Luckily there are some great youtube videos that are like 10 minutes long if you need a refresher.

An intriguing new take on Final fantasy
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is an intriguing departure from the traditional Final Fantasy formula. Developed by Team Ninja and published by Square Enix, this action RPG takes players on a dark and gritty journey, exploring a world brimming with chaos and uncertainty. While not without its flaws, Stranger of Paradise successfully delivers a fresh take on the beloved Final Fantasy franchise. One of the standout aspects of Stranger of Paradise is its compelling storyline. Set in a reimagined version of the original Final Fantasy game, the narrative follows Jack, a troubled protagonist driven by a desire to defeat Chaos and reclaim his lost memories. The story is filled with twists and turns, and the inclusion of complex characters adds depth to the overall experience. However, the storytelling occasionally falters, with pacing issues and some dialogue that feels clichรฉd or forced. In terms of gameplay, Stranger of Paradise veers away from the traditional turn-based combat of previous Final Fantasy titles and embraces fast-paced action. Engaging in intense battles with a wide array of enemies keeps the adrenaline pumping, and the combat mechanics are generally satisfying. Players can switch between different job classes, each with their unique abilities, providing a welcome level of customization and strategic depth. However, the combat can feel repetitive at times, lacking the variety necessary to keep the gameplay consistently captivating. Visually, Stranger of Paradise boasts a dark and atmospheric aesthetic, effectively capturing the essence of a world engulfed in chaos. The character designs strike a balance between familiar Final Fantasy elements and a gritty, more realistic style. While the graphics are generally impressive, occasional technical hiccups and graphical glitches do mar the experience. The soundtrack, composed by Naoshi Mizuta, successfully sets the mood and enhances the overall ambiance of the game. Stranger of Paradise also features a leveling and progression system that allows players to enhance their characters' abilities and unlock new skills. Collecting and utilizing various resources and equipment adds a layer of depth to the gameplay, giving players a sense of progression and accomplishment. While not without its flaws, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a commendable attempt at reimagining the beloved franchise. It successfully brings a fresh, action-oriented take to the series, accompanied by an intriguing storyline and memorable characters. Though it may not satisfy all long-time Final Fantasy fans, those willing to embrace change and appreciate a darker approach will find an engaging experience within Stranger of Paradise.

Yawn
The overall gameplay isn't bad and blowing through a dungeon can be quite fun, however, you will very quickly get equipment fatigue and find yourself running out of room and having to constantly sort and dismantle unused items. The story is a little meh and at times I find myself skipping the dialogue altogether as it feels like pasted over filler. Example, 'blah blah blah crystals' 'blah blah blah memories' 'blah blah blah chaos'. That's the entire story in a nutshell. Worth a play but only if you get it for a budget amount.
