It's not a magnet. It has velcro. One side of the velcro has adhesive.

Does this use hook and loop to position

Yes, you can remove and replace it if you wish.

What is the warranty on this

I don't know if it has a warranty. And I don't care. This little light is so wonderful I'll just replace it if I have to. Best little light ever.
