From Flat to Fantastic - One of the best USB DACs around
I installed an Android tablet into the dash of my car, mostly for the maps and the occasional bit of Spotify on the go. Connected it via a standard 3.5mm AUX cable at first, but the sound was... well, underwhelming. It lacked bass, the volume felt a bit feeble, and overall it just sounded like it was coming through a wet sock. After a bit of digging, I learned that the internal DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) in most tablets is not exactly high grade - more of an afterthought, really. So I picked up this USB DAC, plugged it in using a USB OTG adaptor, and immediately the difference was night and day. Suddenly the bass came alive, the clarity jumped up a notch, and the whole system felt like it had been through a proper upgrade. Genuinely impressive. I have tried the Apple USB DAC in the past, and this one not only keeps up but arguably beats it for sheer audio punch - plus it feels much more robust in the hand. Solid build, no faff with setup, and it just works. I was so impressed I ordered a second one for my home PC, which has been equally transformed. If your music sounds a bit lifeless through your device, this is one of the best value upgrades you can make.

Excellent value USB audio sound card worked out of the box with no issues
MY NEED: I have a HP PC screen with built in speakers which I wanted to connect to the back of a small HP EliteDesk 800 mini-PC. The mini PC only had a front audio out and I wanted to keep all the cables at the rear leaving the front audio socket for headphones. This USB based audio sound card allowed me to do that. I was able to plug this into a spare USB port on the rear of the mini PC and connect a single lead from it into the audio socket of my screen PACKAGING: The unit came extremely well packed in a cardboard box and fixed in a plastic former giving the impression of a premium product CONSTRUCTION I have bought UGREEN kit before and always found it to be well made and of good quality. This is no exception. I choose the short 30cm lead. The lead looks and feels well made. The USB and 3.5mm jack socket seem to be of a metal construction. The cable is covered in a braid and not the usual plastic . The cable looks substantial and is around 4mm diameter - larger than many USB cables. USE: The USB Audio Adapter External Sound Card worked straight out of the box. The USB plug fits securely into the USB socket on the mini PC and there is a reassuring click when you insert the 3.5mm audio plug into the socket. Some reviewers have commented on the sound quality and volume when using this lead. I had no such issue. Indeed my view is at the price point (just under ยฃ10 ) this USB sound card performs as good as required. If you want high fidelity sound I do question why you will be using a USB adapter for your sound. ADVANTAGE: As mentioned above the advantage of this adapter for me was that it provided a sound card which I could plug into a rear USB socket thereby leaving the front socket free for headphones. The alternative could have been a display port to HDMI adapter which is more expensive (and in my case not helpful as there was no HDMI socket on the screen). The other advantage is the value for money. There are also display port to VGA adapters with 3.5mm audio sockets but again these are expense AND need to be powered. as (I believe) the display port does not have adequate power to drive a sound card chip. VALUE: This exceptional good value.

Perfect for the job
The 3.5mm jack on my aging laptop has given up. Obvious solutions 1) go wireless, e.g. bluetooth headsets or 2) get new USB headset. Both solutions leads to yet another set of headphone that I dont need and dont want to spend money on. OR option 3) get this UGREEN USB to 3.5mm audio adaptor for under a tenner. Well, option 3 was the right call. This adapter works very well and I get to keep using my existing wired headphones. To get started, I am pleased to say it is literally plug-n-play. BUT remember, when you plug the USB into the laptop, you have to connect the headphone on the other end too (3.5mm), otherwise, Windows will not identify this adaptor as an audio device and wont install the drivers. The entire adaptor is 30cm, including the USB and 3.5mm socket. The cable is braided, not too thick that makes it hard to bend and not too thin like a cheap cable. The USB end is made of metal casing, with a matte finished coating. No sharp edges at all. The casing is pretty slim, it doesnt obstruct other USB ports when plug into the laptop. The 3.5mm socket is very too good, the headphone jack clicks in perfectly, not too tight or too loose. As for audio quality, it is very good too. I might even think it is better than the original 3.5mm on the laptop, but no way to really compare :p. There is no noticeable audio delay either on games or videos. And it is plenty loud too. Overall, looks, feels and works like a quality product.

Does what it's supposed to do!
For the price, it's excellent. The audio quality is very slightly dull compared to a high end DAC but perfectly acceptable on a ยฃ3.99 device

It solved my EMI hissing issue instantly.
Wasn't sure on these, nor weather the usb-A 2.0 was up to the task or if I should get the Type-C, which I'm glad I didn't as I've only 1 type-C port and it's in use. Short answer, yeah it is, it was actually night and day. I have an ITX pc with an RTX3090 sat right on top of the sound chip, so when that's chugging along at 250-350watts it creates a horrible IEM buzz/hiss that changes with how hard the GPU is trying. I'm not an audiophile, but if there's a hiss or interference, Ima hunt it down until I get cross when I can't find it and go into a gorilla rage and sulk. But when I plugged this in and picked up my IEM's(KZ ZSN Pro's) there wasn't anything. Silence at last! No quiet hissing in the background which you hear when the music dies down a bit. No crackly buzzing from the GPU chooching harder than Thomas the Tank Engine in that one episode... Silence. Beautiful silence. It's actually so nice and quiet I have discovered that I have tinnitus. Not sure if I'm happy about that tbh. I can't tell any difference in quality between headphone socket and this usb adapter. It may be able to go a touch louder, which isn't recommended but still. All the sound options are the same and Adobe Atmos works through it. It shows up as (KT USB AUDIO) in windows sound devices and auto swaps between this output that I use with my IEM's and my speakers when I turn them on which are usb also. Big thumbs up!

5/5 PRODUCT. SOLVED ALL MY ISSUES.
ABSOLUTE 5/5 I was having problems with a CTIA earphones with a TRRS 3.5mm jack. Tried using a splitter so I can use both earphones and microphone with my PC but experienced a lot of static. This USB adapter solved ALL my issues and it was simply plug and play. Would highly recommend this to anyone interested in fixing static noises. Sound quality is phenomenal (both input and output).

Worked great for about a year and then randomly died 30 minutes ago
I used this for an entire year before it suddenly died on me. It was connected to my work laptop, and after 5pm, I connected it to my gaming PC - now the speaker just makes a buzzing noise. I thought my 6 year old speakers finally gave out on me, but the speakers were still working fine when connected to my MacBook. My other headphones also get no signal when connected through this cable. Highly recommend you look elsewhere if you want something to last. Genuinely shocked as this is the second UGREEN product that I've bought which died after the one year mark. I'd highly avoid this company.
