To do so, I need to punch holes before I embroider. Those pocket awls (all 3 sizes) are excellent. They allow me to punch holes at the right size for my different embroidery needles and thread. The punching needle is strong and last a long time without wearing down. However, the mechanism to pull the needle out and then back in, is fragile.
