The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood is one of the sweetest and funniest romances I have read this year! Scratch that. It is one of the top 3 romances I've read this year.Ph.D student Olive Smith kisses the 1st person she finds in the hallway in order to convince her best friend Anh that she was dating. The person happens to be Dr. Adam Carlsen, Professor in her Department, the source of tears of many students. Later he helps her solidify this lie and thus begins their journey of 'fake-dating'.I'll admit I am not that into Professor-Student relationships but the premise here was plausible and palatable to me because A) Olive wasn't technically Adam's student and B) Their age gap wasn't outrageous.Nonetheless, I loved how Ali tackled this issue early on. From clearing the issue with the Dean to Olive's peers accusing her irrationally for Dr. Adam's harsh feedbacks on proposals, she dealt all sorts of problems in a realistic manner. The pressure of pursuing academia, feeling insecure, underconfident and simply not good enough is something I feel quite often. I related with Olive on an emotional and professional level.I love how their fake-dating wasn't too cliché with them still retaining their initial perspectives about each other but slowly their layers peeled away bit by bit and they let themselves show their true vulnerable selves with each coffee date, each activity they did forced by Olive's friends.Olive is a sunshine-y character but in an awkward, over-imaginative rambling sort of way and Adam is no doubt a grump with a deadpan and dry sense of humour and I loved all their banter. I loved how slowly Olive felt safe with him. How he helped her, protected her without ever interfering in her work. Even in the physical aspect, his care and worry over her consent was the sweetest thing ever.And consent is hot. 🔥😍Their friends, Anh, Malcolm and Holden were hilarious and I loved them all.Also, I can't stop praising how hilarious the book it. There were too many laugh-out-loud moments. I was chucking a lot and I had a stupid goofy grin the entire time I read this book. My jaws are hurting from all the smiling and my cheeks are warm from flushing! 😍I can't wait to read more of Ali's works.Lastly, where do I get Dr. Adam Carlsen for myself?

I hadn't seen or heard anything of what The Love Hypothesis was about, but I really enjoyed Ali Hazelwood's writing. I was NOT disappointed. I was hooked and couldn't stop myself falling for these characters. It's a slow burn filled with tension and thank goodness for best friends and putting you in situations that are just icing to the cake! Highly recommend. Am going to enjoy re-reading this one :)

I don't usually read romance (without the added scifi or fantasy), but I heard a lot about this one, and with the movie coming out, I decided to give it a shot. And I have to agree, it's totally worth the hype.Olive doesn't really believe in romantic attraction. At least, not for her. But she still tried to date a guy, which, unsurprisingly, didn't work at all. But then her best friend does like the guy and won't date him to protect Olive's non-existent feelings. So, she tells her best friend she's dating someone else. But due to some unfortunate coincidences, her best friend shows up at the lab when Olive was supposed to be on a date and so she kisses the first man near her, which happens to be a brilliant but notoriously difficult professor. He's also insanely good looking.I loved the romance in this one. Olive was annoyingly oblivious at times, but I've been that age and remember being that insecure. So I guess it is kind of realistic.Mainly, I just had a lot of fun while reading it. I was constantly giggling and kicking my feet at their chemistry and banter.The end of the story was strangely cathartic to me, as someone who's dealt with sexual harassment before, but was alone at the time.Overall, the story is fun but also has depth where it matters. Compared to other romance novels, this is top of the line. Totally worth the hype and I recommend it to anyone who wants a quick romance read, but also likes their stories and relationships to have some depth.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I absolutely LOVED this book!! I can definitely see why everyone loves The Love Hypothesis! Olive and Adam were just perfect together, and I loved watching their relationship grow from the fake dating arrangement into something real. Their chemistry, banter, and all the little moments between them had me hooked!Adam’s grumpy personality was honestly one of my favorite things 😂 The fact that he’s this intimidating, grumpy professor to everyone else but Olive slowly gets to see the softer side of him?? I loved it. And I especially loved that his grumpiness was something Olive actually found endearing rather than something she was constantly trying to change about him.I also LOVED the STEM aspect of this book! As someone who works in STEM and loves a good STEM romance, I really enjoyed having the science and academic world woven into the story without it taking away from the romance. Olive and Adam are both so passionate about their work, and I loved that their love for science was something they shared and respected in each other.The whole grumpy/sunshine + fake dating combination worked SO well for me, and Olive was such a fun character to follow. This book was funny, sweet, nerdy, romantic, and had me completely invested in their HEA. I seriously flew through this one—I could NOT put it down! 😂Definitely a 5-star read for me, and I totally understand the hype now! 💕

🇬🇧 Usually I don't like hyped books, but this time I'm super happy to have followed the crowd, because it made me discover a debut book that I loved from the first lines and that has become one of my new favorite comfort books. In all honesty, if I could give it a thousand stars out of 5 I would.The Love Hypothesis is an avalanche of serotonin. It's fun, adorable, awkward and thoughtful. Olive ("like the tree") is a P.h.D. candidate looking for funds for a cancer research and is a young woman who would do anything to see her friends happy—including pretending to be dating the most tyrannical professor on campus (pfff ADAM IS AN ADORABLE MUFFIN) to help her best friend come forward with her ex, guilt-free. And if this also means convincing the University that Adam has no intention of transferring and not losing his funds, it's even better, right? He certainly doesn't accept it for any other reasons. Nope.Read it if you like:- fake dating trope;- grumpy x sunshine;- pumpkin spice latte (wink wink);- university setting;- WOMEN IN STEM;- 🔥🔥🔥(But even if you don't. Read it. In tutta onestà, se potessi dargli mille stelle su 5 l'avrei già fatto.The Love Hypothesis è una valanga di serotonina. È divertente, adorabile, imbarazzante e riflessivo. La protagonista, Olive, è una ricercatrice che sta cercando fondi per uno studio sul cancro ed è una giovane donna che farebbe di tutto pur di vedere i suoi amici felici—compreso far finta di essere la compagna del professore più tiranno del campus (pfff ADAM È UN ADORABILE MUFFIN) per aiutare la migliore amica a farsi avanti con un suo ex, senza sensi di colpa. Se poi questo significa anche convincere l'Università che il Prof. non ha nessuna intenzione di trasferirsi e non perdere gli incentivi è anche meglio, no? Non accetta certo per altri motivi.
