Brilliant piece of Pioneer kit!
Brilliant bit of kit! Fitted to my 2009 T5 by a professional so that was £90 along with the various bits to fit it into the double din space, the connector, the aerial and the microphone and of course the price of the unit but it all came in around £300. If you can fit it yourself you’ll save a few quid. Takes a while to figure it all out once installed but if you’re tech savvy you’ll have no issues. Bluetooth and app integration work seamlessly and even my stock speakers sound better now. Infinitely customisable for sound, looks colour and looks great in my van! Well worth the money and considerably cheaper than buying an all singing all dancing double din unit from a reputable manufacturer.

Great unit with built in retractable IPhone holder
This is a really great unit. Very clever design especially for my particular car. It looks and sounds fantastic. I am surprised at the extremely reasonable price. I would like to mention that If the IPhone has a case that is tough enough to really protect the phone as mine is, the holder claw barely grabs it. However, once the phone is carefully installed in the holder (I wouldn't try it while the car is moving) then it works fine. I highly recommend this unit.

Good features. Functionally good.
Bought this renewed and it came in good condition with all parts present. Easy to install in a MK1 Ford Focus 2002. Requires a 1 din radio fascia and an additional steering stalk control adapter (CTFSO001.2 around £40 from eBay). I also ordered a male ISO to female DIN aerial adapter and a smb+ISO splitter so I can combine the in car aerial for both DAB and standard. The loom that comes with the radio requires the long green wire to be snipped and the red snap connector combined with the black earth cable. This disables the electric handbrake function allowing the radio to remain on at all times. Unless you have an electric handbrake/want to use that function of course. Read the manual. Functionally it works well. Mine was already synced to someones phone so I poked the tiny reset button behind the faceplate with a pin. Works well with the app and also over BT. I use mine with Amazon Music. I find the navigate button useful as it automatically opens maps on my phone.

NOT wireless Apple Carplay, lets be clear.
Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB 2-Din 7" touchscreen multimedia player with Apple Carplay: Very important: Do you want WIRELESS Apple Carplay? This unit doesn't have it. You will have to buy an additional adapter for £30-£100. Pioneer doesn't sell one. The product description is worded carefully to suggest that everything works via bluetooth but for Carplay you actually need a direct connection via the USB or wifi adapter. I purchased this with the main aim of adding Apple Carplay and Waze to a 2011 Honda Civic. This version of the car came with a double din Pioneer system from factory. It had 2010 on the back of the unit but I remember that model and design being much older. The screen size was a 6.1 or 6.4 inch so this would be an upgrade to 7 inch in the same form factor. In order to reduce the chances of the in car integration failing I decided on sticking with the same Pioneer brand to ensure things like cabling and plugs were similar and that the steering wheel buttons would work but for some reason the main plug was now reversed with an extra plastic tab added just to make reusing the previous pioneer plug impossible. This should have been a straight forward slide out the head unit with the keys, switch plugs and then slide in, however because the head unit was adding form factory, Honda secured it with a bolted on bracket that could only be access from the rear. Cue having to remove the whole centre console trim and some of the dash... A lot of what follow was an Honda Civic issue and not really the fault of the product but I did have to get creative for this to work. Like the main cable wasn't plug and play, I had to do some rewiring to get that to work fully. -Once fitted the only obvious issue was that the radio signal was not as strong or clear as it used to be. -Not getting anything from the DAB radio but I don't know much about that enough to play around with it. Lets just say the 'find station' button had zero results. -As mentioned before, no wireless Apple Carplay. I spent 15 mins trying to find a 'Carplay' button but there was none, until I plugged in the phone via USB, to which it just started working. Other than that, the touch screen is responsive, No lag. Bright and crisp. The systems sounds great. Car play works very well and GPS tracking through Waze looks accurate. The steering buttons for volume, forward/backs and mode change all work once you've set up the Honda dash clock. The car now feels up to date. Just waiting for the wireless adapter to arrive.

VW T5 good compatibility
Great quality stereo unit. Fits VW T5 perfectly as no facia kit is required. It requires the ISO connector harness and Ariel adapter kit. I need to test the Apple CarPlay yet.

I wouldn't if I were you.
After owning this for four months I can say, while the audio is good my car battery suddenly started dying, eventually the battery was totally dead and needed to be replaced (£130), I thought it was just an old battery, but weeks later the new one was dead too. Took the car to a car electrician (£108ph) thinking there was some sort of internal fault and it couldn't possibly be the stereo because it had been in for months with no problems. £324 later, it's the stereo that is waking up my car and draining my battery. No seller contact details available, fortunately Amazon is refunding it. But I'm still down £454 quid because of this unit. I'd avoid and get something else if I were you. Dodgy af.

Good idea but only if its high on the dash
This stereo is a brilliant idea, gives you DAB, Internet radio, Spotify, Amazon music, and of course Google maps. The menus through the app are clunky and complicated, but if you are a creature of habit then you can set what you want before you set off. The built in cradle os brilliant and can hold your phone portrait or landscape. However if the stereo sits low on the dash/centre console you cannot see the screen or the bottons on the stereo as you phone is in the way. My Citreon DS3 has the DIN slot low down and so this is a problem for me. The FM works well and has a good signal, but the DAB reception is terrible. This could be down to the aerial but i have tried various different aerials with no real affect. I live in Surrey where there are plenty of radio stations but its very low hit and high miss. The app needs to be easier to make it more user friendly.
