India Tree Dark Muscovado Sugar, 1 Pound

Much like the texture of commercial dark brown sugar, maybe a little less moisture content, but rich molasses flavor. Love adding to my milk tea.

I always buy this brown sugar. I never buy anything else anymore. It tastes great in your food requiring brown sugar. The light muscavado is good too. Great baking ability. It stays moist fairly well as long as you can seal it up in a plastic baggie. Easy to use. Not sticky. Sugar content is good. Highly recommend!

I'm giving this five stars out of fairness to the seller - it's great quality. I just didn't realize it has such a pronounced flavor of molasses, but I've read more about it and that is in fact how it's supposed to be. I don't like molasses enough (at all) to want that flavor in my fruit smoothies but they sold me what I ordered and now I know more about sugar types. I also bought the light version (lighter colored) and that is much more to my taste. I am trying a bunch of different sugar types so I guess I'll be pretty familiar with the range of flavors after this even though a taste - a 1/8 teaspoonful - would have been enough for me to realize this particular one isn't for me. Do people actually like the flavor of molasses enough to want to have it in their sugar? I use brown sugar and like it but I guess that's the level of molasses that I can handle.

I think overpriced for sugar, but worth the baking results

I am open to try new flavors, and I am very glad I did this time. Although expensive for a bag of brown sugar, it was well worth the money. I used this in espresso made in my stove top pot. It provides a touch of sweetness and a lot of added flavor. The coffee is more robust & flavorful, not at all "sweet". It is the best of the dark brown sugars I have tried.

I was looking for dark brown sugar for some sugar cookies that needed a molasses flavor less strong than adding actual molasses to the mix. In researching cane sugar, I discovered that muscovado sugar was a dark brown sticky cane sugar, sometimes known as Barbados sugar. I ordered a 1lb (454g) package along with some other cooking ingredients. This product has a very sweet distinctly brown sugar flavor without the bitterness sometimes associated with molasses. It works very well in cookies and other baked goods, where it can be substituted for dark or light brown sugar on a one-to-one basis. In cooked items, it contributes its very own unique flavor which I like very much as a matter of personal taste. The only thing I would mention is that if you use half a package and don't carefully store it in an airtight package, you will end up with a half-pound sugar flavored rock. Of course it will dissolve in water nicely, but it's really hard to use as plain sugar. This is an excellent flavor to add to many recipes. I recommend it highly.

Needed it for my banana, chocolate, sourdough muffins. Very good. Not much different to me than dark brown sugar. But it is good on hot cereal as well. Probably won’t buy again because I can’t tell much difference from brown sugar that I have around all the time. Airtight?! NO THE PACKAGING WAS NOT AIRTIGHT AT ALL.!!

Replaced the regular dark sugar for this in my chocolate chip cookie recipe and it was decadent. Browned butter added even more richness.
