No - they are nice fattened up mealworms. I humbly suggest getting a pair of "disposable" tweezers if you get this! - it is "breathtaking" otherwise. Our fancy Bearded Dragon LOVES these!!

Should you refrigerate this after opening?

I know this is an old question but I use zoo med mealworms that are in a can the same as these. I refrigerate after opening and then the can will last about 3 weeks before I need a new one. My gecko has never gotten sick or anything.
