It really does work!
When I got this, my wife was sceptical to say the least. Yes I am a sucker for gimmicks but I had done some research. She carried on making scones with her fingers, and a mess, and then I managed to get her to give it a go. No contest now!

Not as sturdy as I expected from Kitchenaid
Just taking the holding wire off this pastry blender bent one of the blades on it. It was easy enough to push back into shape, but nevertheless a little disappointing for an item with the Kitchenaid brand. Apart from that, it is actually a very nice blender which is very helpful to quickly mix pastry, especially if you have issues with your hands. The handle is especially soft and comfortable to grip - much more comfortable than my really old one with its wooden handle. If you have never used one this is how you use it. Cut fat into small pieces, add your flour and salt - cut up using the blender until it resembles bread crumbs, then add water bit by bit, mixing at first with the blender and then by hand.

Quality product but expensive
Pastry blenders like this really are useful for rubbing fat into flour. They stop heat from your fingers softening the fat, as well as keeping your fingers clean. The KitchenAid version is a top-quality tool, as you’d expect. It’s comfortable in the hand and works well. But you pay a lot for the name. At £15, currently, it’s twice the price of some of the competition. Still, perhaps it’ll last twice as long, which would make it worth the money.

Cuts down time and produces great results
Thumbs up on this from my wife, as an experienced pastrycook. “I have always made pastry the usual way with my fingers, but as age is creeping up on me and the fingers are not what they used to be I decided to try this out, and it works very well. The handle is designed to be very comfortable to use. It makes it far quicker and a lot easier to blend the fat into the flour, as it breaks up the fat as you press down, leaving it in much smaller pieces; if you want to, you could use this first and then rub it in the old-fashioned way. This is what I have been doing, and it cuts the time down by at least half, if not more; the pastry remains cooler, and any cook knows that the colder the mixture the better it turns out. I am sure that a cheaper one would work just as well but because of the brand I know that this will last a long time as it is well made and with the curved edges it really does get into the corners of my mixing bowl making sure that everything is incorporated into the flour. Expensive at £15, but you are paying for the name.”

Lo uso per dolce e salato. Torna bene in pugno. Per adesso non ho lamenti, si lava bene e secondo me vale il prezzo.

Great for cutting butter and flour together for pie crusts or any other butter crusts.

I use it for making pastry dough, and many other things. If it's Kitchen Aid, it is the best!
