They are easily adjustable (it's just velcro.) We cut to size. We did switch them after a few weeks to clip style collars as these kept coming off. Once they start fighting they will come off easily. For one, they're really durable and slightly stretchy, so the mama dog doesn't take them off, and the puppies don't drag each other around by them like you'd worry they would- the soft stretchy collars don't get stuck in the fur, the way they attach to themselves doesn't leave a 'velcro' type thing to catch in fur at ALL. It's perfect! In our litter of 10 Livestock Guardian Dog puppies, this allows us to track every puppy with weight, behavior, personality, etc- I can place the right pup with the right home, because it allows me to know exactly which puppy is which! (Our dogs are both XXL, over 100lb mama and 150lb daddy- I bought the XL collars and they'll easily fit these pups the whole time we have them! They're washable too, so messes can go away easier. Puppies are very messy!)
