I was invested in Kenna and Ledger's relationship, which was sweet and supportive, but also faced a lot of obstacles and judgment. The writing is beautiful and captivating, and the dual timeline adds suspense and depth to the story. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is that I felt that the ending was too rushed and unrealistic. I also thought that some of the sex scenes were unnecessary and detracted from the emotional impact of the story. I would have liked to see more development of Kenna's bond with her daughter and less focus on her physical attraction to Ledger. Overall, this was a moving and memorable read that touched my heart and made me cry. The first quarter of the book is simply superb. There are so many emotions attached. As a parent I was able to relate to it even more. And the love angles, oh my word! they were well done. The writing is fluid as the author makes the reader fall in her web. She is quite a master of it. This is my first book by the author. If her other books are 80% as good, I think we have a winner. one last thing, it is incredible to do a meaningful novel and actually make the reader relate to you. This is not easy at all. very few books manage to do this without sounding conceited ... alas this is one such book that will move almost everyone.
