Works with some problems almost instantly. *by M***F on Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2014* So far I have had the time available to read the Fast Start Guide and view the first DVD. The methodology of Don Sullivan's training program are straight forward. I think the main thing with the training program is to change the way that dog owners interact with their pets. I really think this video is more about training the human how to properly be the "pack leader". In the wild, dogs (Wolves) have a hierarchy. According to Don Sullivan the pack leader uses only enough force to make the other dogs submit. Typically, the lower a dog is in a pack, the less force the pack leader has to use to make it submit. This is the basis of the training program. You are to become the dominant pack leader. I was hesitant to purchase this program because my wife and I truly love our dog. She has a couple of behavior issues but overall she is a very good pet. I decided to purchase the program and I am very glad that I did. I have had it for one week now and my dog is already responding to the down command. The biggest improvement has been in her daily walks. She is already pulling much less on the leash than she used to. I have to give her a reminder tug once in a while but overall she is doing great. In my experience it was almost an instant recognition by our dog of what the collar is for. She began acting differently within a day after the collar was placed around her neck. The collar is a modified plastic "spike" collar. The "spikes" are rounded and will not hurt the dog. It will get their attention when it is snapped however. I admit that it was tough at first to have to correct the dog. However, It does pay off and helps achieve the overall objective of giving your pet as much freedom as possible while still behaving. This training program will work it you are willing to put in the time with your dog. I recommend this program if you do not mind being firm and consistent with your dog and do not mind taking over as your dog's pack leader. Believe me, if you have never trained your dog, that dog is the pack leader of the household or so he/she thinks. Be sure to heed all of the warnings mentioned in the DVD's. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Collar does NOT fit well on a small dog! *by K***I on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2016* I have a wonderful 1 year old Yorkie who is a great dog, but is still a dog. She doesn't have any bad behaviors, but sometimes won't come when I call her. I bought this program mainly for her safety. I wanted to be sure she would listen to me in an emergency.I ordered the program for small dogs, but I think they need to adjust the size of the metal pieces and clips on the small dog collar. The plastic links themselves look like they may be sized smaller, but the weight of the metal ring, clips and rope make this WAY to heavy for a small dog. It continually drops under her neck so I cannot do a "correction" as shown in the dvd. Also, he recommends that you leave the collar on all the time so your dog doesn't just obey when the collar is on. There is no way I would leave this on my dog all day! He also says to leave the leash on so you have access to give the "correction". At first, I did try to leave the leash on her during the day, until she almost strangled herself getting it caught in the doggie door. So, I took the leash off and tried just the collar, but the weight of the metal clip, metal ring, and all of the other pieces used to make up the connection part of the collar are just too heavy for a small dog. She didn't want to move with it on. The ring would bump her legs when she walked. I tried removing a link to make it tighter so it would not rotate on her neck, but then it was too tight. The swivel on the connector clip turns it toward the neck and makes it hard to unhook without pulling on the collar and hurting the dog.I actually emailed the company to ask what I could do about her not wanting to move when she wore the collar, but received no response.This may be a good program for a larger dog, and one that has issues, but for a small dog, especially one that is already submissive and fairly well behaved, it is major overkill!The leather gloves that come with the program are almost bigger than my dog ( poorly made and VERY smelly!) and the quality of the other items is not high. I then checked out Amazon to see if it was cheaper. They were about the same price. I currently own a Bull Terrier (the Target dog) who is about 10 months old. There is a disclaimer at the beginning of the video telling users it might now work for bull-type dogs or you'll have some difficulty with them. So far, I've been able to teach my dog 3 of the basic commands: sit, down, and stay. Right now, he will follow my commands and will occasionally need correction.The videos break down each command with simple correcting procedures. There is even a section that talks about house-breaking your dog. Don Sullivan supports and uses crate training for dogs and I have to agree with him. His methods of correcting a dogs behavior are tamer than simply spanking a dog for misbehaving. Instead, the collar used works like a puppy's mother's mouth, a simple "jerk" with the lead is designed to correct the behavior and get the attention of your dog. I believe the price for this set was a bit high for what you get with it. You can find a similar collar at PetSmart/Petco and you can use a regular dog leash to move around. The price is for the videos which I think are worth it. My kit includes a ball on a lead that can be used for play, I have yet to use that, I'm still working on the necessary commands. Overall, it's a good product, if you have a bully breed, you may have some difficulty in training, but it is possible!
