is this good for audio?

These have helped me add speaker wire to my mini stereo system that come with very short wires. I was a amazed at how they made the job. They are a nice way to splice wires.

Would these work to extend stereo speaker wires, likely 10 gauge?

Ten gauge would not fit in these connectors. I used 14 gauge and it was tight (you prob know, but for those who don't, smaller number gauge = thicker wire).

Do you have to strip the wires before inserting?

I believe so — I did. There has to be exposed wire for the contact bridge to be effective (from what I could tell while using these).

What gauge wire will these take? Also what is the amp rating?

I used them on 14 gauge and they worked fine don't know if they will take anything larger
