Medium weight socks that are warm, breathable, and comfortable.
I am a fan of wool blend socks since my feet get cold in the winter. I needed some dark blue socks and ordered these because of the many positive reviews. When I got them, I opened the package to find the socks were 3" longer than my foot. Since there was no size on the package, I returned them thinking I was sent the wrong size. Since I liked the socks, I reordered them in my size. Again, they were 3" longer than my foot, but this time, I read the instructions to put them in the dryer on a low temperature for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes in the dryer, they were my size. I love the dark blue color which is exactly what I wanted. They are very soft and warm without causing sweating. The judgement of thickness can vary with experience. I have wool socks that are much thicker, but don't provide the comfort and warmth that these socks do. Since I wash all of my clothes in warm water using Woolite detergents and dry on a permanent press setting, I haven't experienced any shrinkage. I feel these socks are made well and will last a long time with proper care. Considering the quality of these socks, I feel they are a great value for the money and would recommend them. I hope this review was helpful for you.

So comfortable and warm!’n
Bought these for the good ol Texas freeze this year, and these are the warmest socks I’ve ever worn, my new favorite winter socks! Heavy duty, very thick, very comfortable, and very soft! Holds up well to working 12 hour shifts in them!

Not as breathable as they used to be
DURABLE, WASHES WELL, COMFORTABLE, MEDIUM CUSHION & COMPRESSION, NEUTRAL COLOR, THICK, YET NOT EXCESSIVELY BULKY... BUT NOT QUITE AS "BREATHABLE" AS THEY USED TO BE. I bought these socks a little over a year ago and they were PERFECT for keeping my feet warm and comfy in during the cold winter. I wanted to buy more so I looked thru my previous orders to ensure I picked the same item and size to buy. The new socks I received are just slightly lighter in color on the outside and mostly white on the inside (as opposed to the mostly gray inside color of the older ones). The new ones also feel "stuffier." They're still soft and keep my feet very warm, but they're not as breathable as the ones I previously bought. Sometimes, I have to take them off while lounging around the house because they make my feet so sweaty. The older ones never (and still don't) make my feet sweat. I think the company may have changed the fiber content or ratio. I would buy these socks again. But I wouldn't pay $19.99 for a set of 3 pairs again. I was willing to pay that much for the quality of the first set of socks I received. Now I wouldn't pay more than $10 given the reduced breathability of the last set I received. I'd recommend buying these when they're on sale. (I don't usually have a problem with my feet sweating. If you do, then I'd recommend you really whether these socks will be tolerable for you.) The size chart seems true to size. My shoe size is 8.5 in US Womens. Both times I bought these socks in size S-M. Both times, they fit very well. These socks fit snug on my feet and usually stay pretty snug after an entire day of walking around. They don't ever stretch out to the point of bunching up or twisting around. However, they do loosen up quite a bit if I've been running around in them on carpet (without shoes) most of the day. I've gotten away with wearing a pair 2 days in a row (taking them off while sleeping at night). They were still comfy, but by the end of the 2nd day, they were just loose enough for me to not try wearing them 1 more day. They wash well. I didn't follow the instructions. I just threw them in the washer and dryer (room temp water and low heat). They visibly shrank a lot, but still fit fine when I put them on. They were just a bit shorter. I actually liked that they were more snug after washing. (Note: They fit well when wearing before and after laundering. I see no need to size up or down unless you're in between sizes... prefer to wear your socks a certain way... or have special considerations like very wide or very narrow feet.) These socks provide adequate cushion and compression on my feet. I have high arches and the heels & balls of my feet are usually sore if I wear poor quality socks. These actually help relieve some end-of-day aching. There aren't really any parts that feel uncomfortable... unless I put the sock on pretty crooked. Then I can feel a small seam that's supposed to sit unnoticably above your toes. (But that's a user error.) The socks are lightweight, considering how much warmth they provide. They have a little bulk to them, but are still comfortable to wear with lined winter boots. (Some socks are so bulky they cause my feet to go numb. These don't.) The socks work well for hiking in cold weather or when you know you're going to be on your feet all day. DURABLE: I wear these socks a lot... almost year round. My toes and part of my feet tend to change colors and even go numb in slightly chilly temperatures... even due to the indoor air conditioner being set a little too low. The ones I bought over a year ago still wear well despite repeated machine washing & drying. They've started to acquire some fuzz balls or pilling at the heels and tips of my toes, but that's about it. I've mostly been using the newer ones lately to see if there are any "wear" issues. So far, they're holding up very well to very frequent washing & wearing.

SUPER WARM! Great for when outdoors!
I bought these since it's winter time and I'm doing some traveling and sightseeing. Knowing I'd be outside a bunch, I wanted to keep my toesies warm, and these do a magnificent job! I can wear them all day, be outside for hours walking around town, taking in the sights, and my feet are perfectly fine. Not a single toe cold! They are very thick and comfy. I have been following the washing instructions and only air drying them to ensure they last. Since I haven't dried them in a dryer, I have not noticed any shrinkage. Obviously being thick socks, keep in mind what shoes you're using. May need to loosen up those laces. But that's a good thing!

Great soft warm socks!
These are very good. Much warmer than they look, and super soft and cushioned. They are thick enough to be warm, but not so thick that they don’t fit inside your boots. I got them for my husband who does construction outdoors all winter in steel toe boots, and I credit them with keeping him from getting frostbite. Also a good value for the money.

Alvada Thermal 80% Merino Wool Socks are my favorite and now my only socks. They are warm, they wick moisture away from my skin, they don’t itch, after two years of daily use rotating between only 6 pairs they don’t have holes from wearing out and the elastics are still tight and equivalent to when they were new. They are all I wear. I have just received an additional order of 9 pair of one size larger (14-16) to wear over my size 10-13 socks for wear during cold weather. I had been wearing a less expensive high quality cotton sock over top but in cold temperatures the cotton socks were getting wet from condensation inside my insulated neoprene waders and wet cotton held the moisture against my inner layer of Alvada socks and my feet were getting cold quickly. I received my larger Alvada wool socks yesterday at noon and wore them for yesterday’s evening hunt, and I was very happy my feet stayed warm and dry despite the inside of the waders getting wet from condensation. I suggest you do as I do for caring for Alvada thermal Merino wool socks. Wash on gentle cycle in cold water using only a10% of the detergent selling recommended amount of an extremely mild liquid laundry detergent. After the spin or extraction cycle, hang them to dry at room temperature. Do not dry in the dryer. After they have air dried, tumble them on no heat air fluff only setting for 5 minutes in the dryer. Now they are fluffed up and ready to wear, without the elastic or wool being progressively ruined by the dryer heat. Follow these instructions and they will last hundreds of wearings without degradation. Keep your toe nails trimmed short so they don’t cut your socks rubbing against the inside of your footwear. If they cut from your toe nails that’s due to your own stupidity and laziness and not any fault in the socks. Enjoy your Alvada thermal Merino Wool Socks for years of daily use as I do by doing what I do.
