Welcome to the world of computer coding! Become a master coder, with these step-by-step instructions and robot helpers too! How to Code teaches you all the basic concepts, including Loops, Variables, and Selection, and then develops your skills further until you can create your own website . . . and more! Learn how to use Logo, build games in Scratch, program projects in Python, experiment with HTML, and make interactive web pages with JavaScript. Review: Perfect gift - It is a great gift for a middle school student who has an interest in coding! Review: So far, so good. - We haven't tried working the programs yet, but the first chapter looked great. A lesson followed by several exercises. It's written in an easy to understand format, using free programs that can be downloaded off the 'net. Directed at a younger age, but still good for older children. I'm actually thinking of buying one for myself.

This is perfect, this book is hard cover and includes How to Code book 1, 2, 3 and 4. If you buy them separately you will around $7 to $8 for each and they are not hardcover. So this was a surprise for me because the description does not explain that it is a binder of the 4 books.

I bought this book for a student who wanted to know more about "coding" and what it is. Well, I chose the perfect book because the student used her Winter Break and learned from this book. It's a user-friendly, easy to understand book.

Easy to understand
Did not buy this for the kids. I wanted to learn coding the simpler way. As a senior citizen, I wanted to learn coding in a fun way. So easy and simple to follow,

Excellent Programming Basics for Younger Learners
This book is a wonderful introduction to program for older elementary and middle school kids. It covers Logo, Scratch, Python, HTML, and JavaScript in a fun and accessible way. Each language is taught with fun robot illustrations and easy to understand programming examples, and each chapter ends with a series of exercises so that the child can make sure they grasp the concepts. My son had originally signed this book out of the library, but we all loved it so much that we absolutely had to have a copy to keep. Basic concepts like simple loops, variables, and if statements are covers. The HTML section introduces basic markup language (and encourages the use of local webpages for practice rather than ones hosted online). There is a useful glossary and index at the rare of the book. There is no software included with this book, but it does contain links for where the required compilers and programming environments can be found online for free. (In some cases the programming environments can be used either online or downloaded for offline use.) Note that this a compilation of Max Wainewright's individual books entitled "How to Code" Levels 1 - 4.

A simple learning experience
It’s simply explained in a sequence of examples that can be easily followed for a “dummy” like myself My advice is to read and digest the information In each section of the book before rushing to your computer - then try it out step by step! It will start to make some sense! I think this would be a good book for the beginner

Perfect for kids getting into coding
This book is really great for kids or beginners! It has really easy to understand diagrams to help explain the process. I bought this for my 11 year old brother, but my 7 year old sister is really liking it too!

Great Way to Introduce Coding to a pre-teen
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my 12-year-old grandson who is beginning his course in coding. He hasn’t yet opened his gift but by my conversations with him about this topic he is quite engaged and interested in learning more. I think this book is just the thing he needs to help him along the way with challenges and fun.
