I wanted to test my router speed after upgrading to full fibre. The only way to do this reliably is to connect a computer to the router directly. As my laptop did not include a built-in ethernet port, an adapter was required. This Amazon Basics adaptor worked perfectly. I simply plugged the USB C into my laptop and used a high speed ethernet cable (min cat5e) to connect to the router. Running a simple test confirmed the speed. No set-up was necessary - it just worked.

Got this because I kept getting intermittent problems with both the ethernet and wifi connections from my PC. Another PC on the same network had no such problems, so it could not have been the router. Plugged it in and it works perfectly. No more problems on that PC.

Worked fine on PC and windows laptop but I couldn't get it to work on a Switch - don't think it's advertised as working on a Switch so that's fair enough. Might have worked with the right adapter but I didn't go too far down the rabbit hole. On laptop it gave me speeds which seemed to be maxed out around a couple hundred mbps and worked without needing rebooting or giving any problems. Good alternative if you break the ethernet port on your laptop as two of our kids have managed.

Amazing piece of kit for the price, and sturdy. Wi-Fi Extender with Speeds - Download 25mps and Upload of 30mps increased to 88mps and 44mps respectively via the LAN Connection to the Extender. So it obviously works!!

A cheap and simple plug and lead

The more common Realtek USB dongles used to fail within a day or two on my freebsd and openbsd routers. This was more promising after a week without error but it too failed, needed a disconnect, netif restart and dhcpd restart. I even tried a cron job to daily reset the dongle but I just got kernel panics. Haven’t used on Windows or Linux so can’t comment.

I bought this for use with a raspberry pi and was a little nervous that it would need a driver and wouldn’t work but it’s been flawless so far. Good points: * Very reasonably priced * No drivers needed, just plug and play * Doesn’t seem to get too hot, even after having been on 24/7 for about a month * Solid materials, with a metal outer casing, not cheap plastic

Cumple su función, velocidad adecuada, limitada a la velocidad del USB que lo conectes. Probado con PC y con una Xiaomi Mi Box y una Mi Box S, funciona perfectamente en todos los dispositivos. Por poner un “pero” las luces que lleva incorporadas para la trasnsferencia de ficheros y para el power, son demasiado brillantes, a veces resultan molestas. Bien en general, su precio lo mejor.

A small USB3.0 adapter, very well made casing. The signal light is white and some may find it too bright, but it can be covered by some semi-transparent tape if it bothers you. It works really well with my raspberry 5 adding an extra gigabit connectivity option. The performance is as expected, compatible with all my devices. The adapter device id is 0b95:1790. It is made in Vietnam and features AX88179 Gigabit Ethernet Controller chip made in Taiwan, so safe and easy to use.

El adaptador funciona muy bien para equipos sin entrada ethernet como laptops. Y en velocidad no se nota la diferencia.
