It was strong and healthy. It grew a great kombucha quickly and reproduced enough to have several gallons at once.

Wow! Just got it. Probably 1/4-1/2” thick. Just put it in my first batch. We’ll see how it does! So far, very impressed by the size and quality of the SCOBE. Looked like a thick slice of tomato. We’ll see how it tastes after 7 days or so.

Ease of use: I have been making kombucha tea for several months and wanted to increase my productivity by purchasing 2 of the premade scoby and starter liquid sets as it’s difficult to find raw unflavored kombucha in my area to start my own. The scoby looked healthy upon arrival however there was not a lot of starter tea. Maybe MAYBE a cup. Typically I use minimum one cup, usually two. The scoby was not as large as I expected. I let all this slide because I was excited to use the product. After less than a week, my f1 had mold in both batches. As the scoby is not necessary to do your f1 but the starter tea is. This was a hopeful venture that disappointed. I will say it was packaged nicely and the scoby looked healthy. I have not had mold before and I’ve processed everything the same as normal. I can’t 100 percent state the mold was due to the product but I can’t say it wasn’t. I can state I won’t try this route again.

A bit small but gets the job done.

I have been making Kombucha for about 15 years and sadly had a mold infiltrate my batch and had to start over. I bought a dehydrated SCOBY from a well known brand and it would not activate. I tried a second time - no luck. I then bought this SCOBY with activated brew and I was back into brewing! It made a beautiful new SCOBY and I had my first batch in 2 weeks! I will never waste my time with that well-known brand's dehydrated SCOBYs again.
