Accurate, Durable, and Easy to Read – A Must-Have for Vehicle Owners
If you’re looking for a reliable tire tread depth gauge, the ODESON Dial Type Gauge is a great choice. I’ve used it on my car and motorcycle, and the readings are consistent and easy to understand. The color-coded scale (green/yellow/red) takes the guesswork out of figuring out when it’s time to replace your tires. The build quality is also impressive—it has a solid feel thanks to the silver powder-coated zinc alloy casing, which gives it a professional-grade look and feel. No flimsy plastic here. The dial is easy to read, even in lower light, and it’s accurate down to 32nds, which is perfect for staying on top of tire safety. This little tool gives peace of mind whether you’re prepping for a road trip or just doing regular maintenance. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to stay ahead of tire wear and avoid surprises on the road.

Solid - Precise - Built To Last
I already had a gauge that's like a nail that passes through a scale to tell you the depth of your tread. And it worked, but they're a little fussy and hard to read sometimes. So I wanted something different that was easier to read. I looked into the electronic digital ones, but they require batteries and a level of thinking (Ciphering, as Jethro Bodine would say) to come up with a useable value. I find that the analog dial on this style of gauge is a lot easier for the brain to relate to. It's instant, it's visual, it's easy to see at a glance. And this gauge is the epitome of simplicity. It's solid and very precise. When you put it on a flat surface it is dead on zero. There's no need to zero it like the electronic gauges because it is "perma-zeroed" simply by the mechanics of it. All you have to do is put it over the valley of the tread in your tire, push the button down and there's the depth of your tread in the simplest easy to read manner there is. No batteries and solid reliability. This gauge is built like a tank. It's solid metal that has some heft to it. It even comes with a nice protective pouch that wasn't even mentioned in the description. It should last a lifetime. (If you can remember where you put it lol!) I'm keeping mine in my glovebox so I don't lose track of it. You can't go wrong with this one. It is a great value for the money.

Awesome tool
Works great, it is accurate and saves time and money as you can check your own tires and know when to buy them instead of going to a shop for an oil change for them to tell you you bad new tires when you don’t or not knowing when to have your tires changed. I have dropped the tool many times and has lasted through them all. It is small and easy to handle in your hands. Easy to read and feels amazing.

It feels well made and the dial is easy to read, you can't beat the price.
This gauge has a large dial face and is easy to read even with the protective plastic still on. It arrived zeroed out and the first time I attempted to reset the needle the gears inside felt like it slipped a little and the needle never made it back to zero. The more I used it the further away from zero it became, as of right now its "zeros out at 8/32 (see picture). It still measures the tread thickness but I need to do simple math to get the correct tread wear depth. I like that is reads in 1/32 on an inch and isn't made out of cheap plastic. I can't complain to much because it didn't cost a lot of money, and it will get the job done.

Accuracy - against traceable (formerly NBS) standards, a micro rule and micrometer
Key search words: accurate, accuracy, data, tested, measured, precision My data point of one unit received today. (Frustrating that so many reviewers claim “accurate” or “inaccurate” and never say how they know that.) - Device protrusion was set exactly to 2/32nds 4 times, measurement was performed each time against a Starrett micro-rule to 100ths of an inch. The device appears to be exact to 1/ 100th of an inch but I am more certain that it is exact to 1/100th +- 1 and as it’s difficult to read that fine even with a lens, and rather boring to perform the test I’m shortcut guessing about 1 sigma on that +- 1. On the 1/64th side of micro-rule it’s exactly 4 64ths where it should be. When device protrusion is set higher, to 4 and 8 32nds the results are similar but a little greater variability. Essentially got excellent results using a traceable Starrett micrometer too, but that was tricky to perform so no detail included here. The rulers worked best. So, on a sample of one, my conclusion is that the device itself is way, way, more accurate than what is needed (actually kind of funny when you think about it) and operator error is going to be by far the biggest variable for precision.
