Replacement Housing Shell Pack Compatible for GBA SP Gameboy Advance SP (Flame Red)

Pretty great shell for GBC, no issues installing and looks great. Used the old buttons just because the different colored ones are not my thing. Like most have said in other reviews, the bottom does not seal, but its still sturdy and feels solid. Glows super bright.

First off, many people who have the screw problem where it starts to make a little divot into the plastic are over tightening the screw and causing the shell to break. It's a relatively spring shell and feels almost like the original but if not handled with care it'll break on you during assembly. Secondly, I recommend getting a hobby knife since some parts do have little part mold nubs that could interfere with the internals. But overall it's great for the price and was a fun afternoon project while watch a movie. It makes the gamebky look new and changes the color from boring grey to a nice blue.

Great price, fast delivery, it comes with the necessary screwdrivers, screws, buttons, L/R thumbs, ON/Off and volume sliders, stickers, taps, and screen lens replacement. You need to use your own hinges but that's it. I found this GBA SP laying around all messed up, but now looks brand new

Edit: So. Tl;dr you get what you pay for, but everything turned out fine in the end. The screwdrivers this kit comes with are kinda flimsy. I used them initially, just to see how they worked with my own hands. Things didn't go so hot. After some frustration, I tried screwing the housing together one last time, but this time, I used my own screwdriver. I was able to get the screws to hold the housing together a bit better, so that gap is now gone and everything looks a-okay. Check the photos marked "[EDIT]" to see the final product. /*************************************************************/ Original review: Bought the green, luminous CGB shell. Everything was great exceeeeept A) The screws were wrong. CGB housing typically comes with six long Y screws and 3 short X screws. I received 3 long Y screws, 2 short X screws and 1 short Y screw. B) The back half of the shell is mildly warped. It's not quite noticeable when you look at it by itself, but when you close the housing, the two pieces don't come flush with one another. I've included pictures for reference. Matching the luminous front with the original shell back closes it correctly, so it looks like the shell front was formed okay.

Case felt fine, but the shell is not of a good quality. The other shell I have is also a blue reshell that's scratched to oblivion hence why I bought this shell, and while installing the hinged the lanyard hole snapped. Leaving behind a missing piece of plastic. Tis a shame, but luckily I have another top plate from my old shell that'll match enough. Also, putting the hinges in this shell were a nightmare. I don't remember it being that bad on my last shell swap.

Fit and fitment are great. All included screws, parts and button function. Everything is a tight and original fit. The included screwdrivers were long which is a big help and the label is a nice touch. I had over-tightened one screw while completing the swap and made a small hole but that is an error on my part, not the product I did not use the included screen cover because it did not have the lettering on it but it looked good. Basically everything did the job and I would order again if needed. BE AWARE IT DOES NOT INCLUDE HINGE PINS those must be sourced from your old system

It was difficult to rate this at 3 out of 5 because some of the issues can be fixed by taking the time to refit it better. Its price is rather low for a GBA SP shell, but overall, I'd only recommend this if you intend to mod your GBA SP further after repairs. Based on other reviews, it seems like build quality of these vary! I think if your current GBA SP shell is all scratched and dirtied up, this isn't a bad choice for someone who just wants to refurbish it. Pros: -High quality shell, with the exception of some of its smaller parts, such as hinge caps and power button. -Comes with brand new buttons, pads, screen lens, stickers and screws. -Shell is compatible with thicker IPS screens, which I do recommend over OEM screens. -Good for the price, can be priced at nearly half of what competitors are selling their shells. Cons: -OEM screens aren't as bright in the shell because it was built with IPS screens in mind. -Does not come with new hinges, so you must get those separately. Fitting OEM hinges into the aftermarket shell was such a hassle. Do not forget to new buy hinges! -Exsek's power switch, and perhaps other parts, could be too big for the shell. I had to file down excess plastic from it so it would fit. -Exsek's Flame Red color doesn't match OEM Flame Red. Would even say it has more glitter in it too. I personally like it, but others might not! Will be updating review with pictures!

I was very pleased with this shell. I've bought other less expensive shells in the past, and this one is by far the best. There's no paint overspray/missing, it comes with everything you need to do it yourself (except the hinges) and nothing needs to be modified/massaged to make it fit. It even comes with quality stickers. I used my original screws, buttons, and screen with no problem. It feels cheaper than the original, but it's definitely a high quality replacement. Overall I'd recommend this to anybody who's looking for a replacement shell.
