A good WiFi Router and Easy to Setup
Because my old Netgear router got me so much trouble after serving me for several years, I decided to buy a new one. I found this Amplify Alien interesting and so bought one. It was easy to setup, allowing me to give the network a name and a password I like rather than the given ones. In additional to plugging the power and ethernet cables, everything was done with the AMPLIFI app. I guess I did it in less than 5 minutes. Every device except one worked immediately. The one that did not work was my HP JetDrive 2900nw print server. My printer HP Color LaserJet M553d did recognize the WiFi router but failed to assign an IP to JetDrive. Therefore, wireless printing is DEAD. Whether this is because the equipment is too old or something else. HP is perhaps the worst large companies that is incapable of providing a readable and easily understandable manual. Anyway, a new printer with wireless printing is on the way rather than using the odd JetDrive 2900nw. One little incident should be reported here. The router powered off during night time for no obvious reason as no one is using it. I don't know why. However, unlike my other routers such as LinkSys, ORBI and the old Netgear, this Amplify Alien does generate heat. This is my third day using this router. Except for the powering off in the first night, everything is working fine. I hope its quality is as good as my other routers. In summary, if the quality is good, then this is really good WiFi router.

Works For a While... then........
I have had the unit since March of 25.. worked great, easy set up.. I was really impressed. then.. it lost the internet that was put to it by ethernet... I tested the ethernet line worked great.. reset unit and off I went.. for a month.. then it happened again.. now its not reseting.. I cannot access with my app. I am back to the stone age with ethernet cables run all through my office.. Very expensive paper weight.. No support.. I put in a support ticket last week... no one has reach out to me here.. I would avoid this product..

The best Router and MeshPoint
I originally purchased the Alien router which was by far the best router and highest performing I’ve ever owned. Needed to expand with a mesh to add Atomi lights outside. 4500 sqft home and the router does great all inside but the far reaches outside, was a little weak for the Atomi flood lights. Amplifi does not sell the Alien Mesh unit separate, so if you think you need a mesh, buy it with the router. I ended up purchasing a new Alien router/mesh bundle. Because it is a bundle, they are already paired. Therefore, I could not just adopt to my current router. I contacted customer service, Amplifi has THE BEST customer service, fast, helpful, and detailed. They sent me steps to unpair the router and meshpoint, I opted to return the bundle and just purchase the Alien router and use it with my current Alien router as a meshpoint. This was the easiest process, as soon as I plugged the new router in, my old router detected it and requested to ‘adopt,’ once adopted, the system comfigured itself and was up and working in 5 minutes. Connected my Atomi floods and they have perfect signal. If you need a router, don’t waste your money on another product, get the Amplifi router!!! Customer for life!

Do not buy if you need 2.4 ghz!!!!
I bought this router and it was easy to setup. In the process of setting it up, I enabled the additional ssid for 2.4 ghz signal. It worked for a matter of mins. And then it all failed on that radio signal. Contacted support and provided the support file to them and said the hardware for the 2.4 ghz radio was bad. Went through the RMA process with them (had to pay for shipping). Received the new one and set it up and went through thr same thing! Reached out to support and said the radio signal was bad again and wanted me to send it back in. I asked if they would pay for the shipping label and expedite it to send back to me (work remote on days) and they said I would have to pay for it. Very unsatisfied with this customer service. Overall, if you only have nees for 5 ghz, it's great. If not, do not buy this and go through the same issues I went through.

Next-Level WiFi — Fast, Reliable, and Sleek
This router is an absolute beast! I went from spotty coverage to full bars everywhere — and the speeds are insane. Setup was quick, the app is clean, and the design is something you actually want to display. Worth every penny.

Pretty disappointed
It sure is a cool looking router. Setup is fairly easy. It arrived a few days late, but that has little to do with this review. I do like the app, and all the options. It is easy to navigate and straightforward with regards to controls, adjustments, and testing. The lcd screen is really awesome. Looks great, tons of information on it. But it constantly goes blank. Adjusting the backlight shows the screen is functional, but no information appears. After researching I found I could do a hard reset and it would work again. It did! For 2 days. I’ve reset it several times, then just gave up. It’s a minor thing, I know, but it is irritating. If you are close to it, it is pretty fast. But the range on this thing isn’t even close to my nearly 10 year old ASUS black night. My man cave is a building just outside my house. I spend a lot of time out there watching tv. I was hoping this might provide a better, faster signal for streaming out there. If it reaches out there, which is only the case about half of the time, the stream is a bit faster, but signal strength is pretty weak. Most of the time I switch back to my old ASUS router. I use a brand new Apple 4K box in the cave that is WiFi 6 compatible, but it works better on my 10 year old 5 ghz router. At this point I really wish I had stuck with another ASUS router. I won’t be disappointed when this thing dies, if I keep it that long.

Signal in house was almost non existent in certain rooms due to the construction, age and lay-out. This has made a massive difference
