The tub is smooth fiberglass. -The mat is indeed very stable to stand on while I am showering. When I shower, I put the mat in the dry tub, and then just shower. The suction cups work fine and the mat is stable. -I typically drape the mat longwise on the side of the tub to dry it out after showering. I also usually, in a few hours, flip it over so the other side dries too. I have never had mold issues doing this method, including with my previous, similar mat. -The texture pattern is mildly firm.
