The plastic pieces got lost so fast that my kids went with these tied in knots for the rest of the school year. I believe these are not the same quality and are inferior. With the Xpand laces, you burn the ends to secure them. When I tried to burn the DB No Tie Shoelaces, they just smoldered and refused to meld together. This is concerning since the elastic will continue to fray, especially when put to the stress of expanding as the foot stretches the shoe.The plastic tabs used to secure the laces are a bit bulky. They can clearly be felt on the foot and are extremely uncomfortable. I had to play around with the plastic tab, much more effort than I wanted to. At first, I had it on my big toe side, but realized that there wasn't enough room for it and the pressure was pushing uncomfortably against my toe bone.
