Philips AJ3231 Mirror Finish Clock Radio

I have been looking for "the perfect" clock radio for quite a while and I think I found it! A marvel of engineering and design -- it's light, airy, amazing looking yet sturdy and substantial at the same time. This is so well designed! I find that the buttons are in the right places, easy to get to and intuitive, they feel very substantial and not flimsy and cheap like so many other electronics today. I don't know how they were able to make a piece that is so substantial and solid feeling yet airy and light and unobtrusive looking. A really great job done though! I am quite impressed and very pleasantly surprised, this feels like a product that will last, which sometimes seems like a thing of teh past- toay everything is made to toss... I love the non digital radio station dial-- I live in a mountainous area where it's very hard to get any reception, and the manual tuner is a must. And this one is well made and sensitive -- I actually get several stations with this, which I have never been able to get with others I have tried. On top of it the light display is brilliantly done! The mirror finish is really cool it's a smoky color so not like a shiny standard mirror. And the time is displayed in a golden color that makes it really easy at a quick glance see what time it is whether it's light or dark in the room, yet at night it's very unobtrusive. Living in the mountains we have no ambient light (except the moon when it's full) coming into the bedroom. So, any light source really pops out and I have a hard time sleeping with that in the room. So I have been looking for one that didn't keep me awake. I have tried several ones with adjustable displays but ended up having to toss a piece of clothing over each one I have tried, which makes it a useless time keeper. This one was just perfect. I really, really like this clock radio and can highly recommend it.

Love this alarm clock, for the most part. It's got a sleek, clean look, and the amber color of the numbers is perfect for being easy to read while not being too bright at night. I do, however, have issue with the volume. It seems I can't turn the buzzer up enough, and to be honest, it's not quite loud enough for me. While I do have hearing impairment, I've never heard an alarm clock that wasn't plenty audible.

I purchased this clock through Amazon and, so far, it has functioned well. I like the appearance of it, the alarm functions very well, I like the fact that I don't have to programm it everyday and also that I can programm two alarms at the same time. I programmed them to wake me up with the radio, so it's good to listen to music in the morning. You can connect your MP3 or IPhone which is very convennient if you want to listen to your music next to your bed at night. I also like that you can make the time in the screen look brighter or not. The only thing that I don't like so much is the reception of the radio, you can listen to it well but it doesn't receive many radio stations. That is not a big deal, I would buy it again in spite of that because it is a very good product, good quality, good appearance, good functioning. I am very happy with it.

It's a really nice alarm clock, very classy,you can configure the alarm to be the radio a low tone or high tone (Alarm 1 or 2). Sound quality isn't superb but for the price it's good. Not so hard to set if you follow the instructions. Only drawback is that it's 120v, so if you are planning on taking it outside the States you will need a voltage power down tranformer (like on the picture) Aside from that I recommend it.

I bought this because I needed a specific look in a clock-radio. In that aspect, it does not disappoint -- it's beautiful. The radio functionality is a different story. The radio frequency is not easy to set as I was unsure I had the correct setting. The dial is difficult to read, so I had to listen on another radio to ensure I had the right station. The radio on/off button is small and in an odd position and when pressed, has a slight delay before you hear the radio (on OR off). The sound of the radio is cheap and tinny. I know this isn't top-of-the-line audio, but it does not sound better than the 1975 clock-radio it is replacing. I will keep this because it will not need to be moved and the station will remain constant. I did not try (or need) the alarms.

I have always had a clock radio in my bedroom, ideally with dimmable, large-ish numbers and multiple alarms. When I found this one in December 2017, it seemed to check all the boxes. I received it, loved the look and immediately put it to work (though it did seem unnecessarily difficult to program). It had tendency to run a little fast but I didn’t mind that as it just meant I was definitely on time of a morning ;) Fast forward to last month, 20 months since purchase. My husband and I were awoken randomly one night by the alarm buzzing. With 3 boys in the house, we put it down to a practical joke, however, all 3 boys denied it. The same thing happened again and again, despite the alarm being positioned to OFF. Since the first time, it has happened multiple times and now, the time display has disappeared entirely and the stupid thing just does random count downs from 59 to zero constantly. Before pulling the plug, I had to keep the volume on low all the time too so that the radio wasn’t permanently on. As a family, we have multiple radio alarm clocks, many of which are over ten years old and still functioning as well as when they were bought. Why is it so hard to make a durable clock with legible numbers that doesn’t resemble a floodlight stood in the corner of a darkened bedroom??! This is less than 2 years old, and of course past its returnable date. As pretty as they clock may be, I strongly urge anyone considering it to think twice!

Bought two 10 years ago for master and spare bedrooms - and both quit working within a couple of months of each other. Was SO GLAD to find they were still making these clocks. look great and easy to use. They did make a few upgrades and they work well. Looks great in any room. Highly recommend...great value for the money.

This clock has a nice, modern look with large amber colored numbers. The alarm buttons are horribly designed, however. You can snooze, but cannot turn off/change the alarm without picking up the whole clock. The buttons are flush with the body and don't slide easily so you more or less have to pick up the whole thing to do anything to it. Not fun when you're half asleep. The body tips forward easily too.

Great design. Easy to use. A bit pricey.

El reloj tiene buen diseño, pero es muy limitado cuando se va la luz. La descripción del producto dice que funciona con corriente alterna o batería, pero la batería que utiliza (cuadrada de 9V) sólo sirve para que conserve la hora en la memoria si se va la luz, pero no te muestra la hora ni funciona el radio con la pila. Es decir, si se va la luz el reloj se vuelve una caja inservible. Tiene una "pantalla" muy grande pero los números sólo ocupan una pequeña parte en el centro. Si solo buscas un reloj que funcione al 100 cuando hay corriente eléctrica, adelante, pero yo no lo recomiendo.

I have no issue with the brightness. I feel it's just right. Very nice looking. Just as it is pictured. To be honest I found it a bit confusing out of the box, but a quick referral to the instructions made everything make sense and I felt a little silly that I didn't catch on right away. Overall I feel that it is priced accordingly, and it is a nice clock.

El producto no parece nuevo, trae algunos daños, principalmente en la parte de arriba el más evidente es el botón de paro de alarma, pero funciona, es mi primer compra en la pagina, veremos como sigue después.

Clock Radio Has Very Large Numbers, And Is Very Easy To Use. Also Has A Elegant Look To It. Recommend Highly.
