Perfect for P90X, 10-Minute workouts or just working out on your own
I ordered these bands because my wife and I were starting the new 10 Minute workout discs. I had been doing some p90x off and on to just basically stay in shape, and was using a set of bands I had bought several years ago. When we both worked out though, we needed another set, and I ordered these after reading positive reviews. I've used the bands a few times, and I'm definitely happy with the purchase. First of all, its incredible that you get as many bands as you do for the price. If you try buying bands in store, forget about equaling the value. Second, the bands definitely stretch. I'm 6'2", and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to really extend my arms above my head with some of these bands, but they just keep stretching, and it makes for a very challenging workout. They come with a bag to carry everything, so if you are someone who travels for work a lot, these will work out great. They also come with a booklet containing recommended exercises, so if you are just getting started, you'll have some form of documentation to get moving. When I first bought the bands, I was slightly worried that each band contained it's own set of handles, because previously I had held two or more bands at a time with one handle with a clip at the bottom that attached to the bands, and didn't think it would be efficient to hold two handles in my hand at once. But since I've been using them, I really haven't needed to use more than one band at a time, since you get so many with such a wide range of weight, and for those of you who want to purchase these for 10 minute workouts of P90x, having a different handle on each band is actually a positive, since it allows for quick switching to keep up with the video, which typically doesn't feature rest periods between each workout. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.

Great Value - Works for P90X!
I love this product. I started using resistance bands a while ago and this is by far the best deal I have seen. In the past, I had paid $15-$20 per band. This product comes with 5 bands at just the right resistances. I love the 2 smallest bands (yellow and blue) because they have a small resistance (perfect for shoulder and tricep exercises). The top negative review says these bands don't work for P90X. I have been using them for several months with P90X and they work wonderfully. A disgruntled Tony Horton must have written that review...but in all seriousness, they bands work just fine. One thing to consider before purchasing these bands is what you will be using them for. These bands are made out of a rubber-like material. This material is economic, but not that tough. I have seen other resistance bands that are designed more like those elastic bands with hooks (for holding things down). I would consider buying those if you plan on being rough with your bands; however, i'm sure those bands cost a lot more money. Specifically speaking, exercises where you wrap your bands around foreign objects (such as a tree or pole), will cause these bands to wear out quickly. Also, if you step on the bands for certain exercises, make sure not to twist or rotate your ankle as this will also wear out the bands. If your bands get even a small tear, you will be forced to discard them for safety reasons. On a final note, if you use these bands on a regular basis, plan on buying heavier bands. You will build up muscle mass fast with these bands and need more resistance. With this being said, serious lifters should consider getting a set with more large bands included. It's worth spending a little extra upfront. 5 Stars!

Worth more than what I paid for!
I love these new set of bands. Let me start of by saying that I have always preferred working with dumbbells and have never been a big fan of resistance bands. I started doing the CHALEAN EXTREME workout and realised that I cannot afford to buy all the dumbbells that were required and decided to switch to bands. This was the only product I could find, where each band had its own set of handles and this along with the low price were the main reasons I decided to purchase these. I have been working out with them for one week now and I must say I love them. There have been some complaints about the handles, but I found them to be comfortable. A note included with this product said that these were a new design for 2011 so they may have improved the handles, but I am not sure. The service was amazing. I got the product less than 2 days after I ordered it. They also have a promotion for users to receive a free orange band. I called the number with some hesitation as I wasnt expecting great service. I was however amazed. The staff is very courteous and efficient and I truly think that they are very customer oriented. The product is working great so far and I think that I would definitely buy more BMP products in the future. The bands are easy to work with , though I feel that I usually have to pick the heavier bands to do the workouts as I dont really feel the weight that the band is supposed to represent. I find the 8 pound band more like 4 pounds. I also wish that the bands were atleast 10-15 inches longer, so I could wrap them around my feet and still have enough length to work out with. All this being said, I think these bands are amazing value for money and I am glad I decided to buy these for 20$ instead of having to shell out 100s of dollars for adjustable dumbbells.

Fantastic Investment!
I started a little early with my New Year's resolutions and purchased the BMP 5-Band Set. I used to bench press 350 lbs and squat over 500 lbs in college but rotator cuff injuries took a lot of strength from my shoulders/chest and my knees are pretty shot. My 9-year old son also started agility training this year and he can do every exercise they do with the "lighter" bands. Resistance bands are a HUGE improvement over dumbells and free weights in cost, convenience and portability. You would spend hundreds of dollars on the equipment it takes to replicate the things you can do with these bands. And they are completely portable - unlike weights (even water dumbells). The 5 bands and the door mount fit into a bag for easy storage and could be tossed into luggage for a trip. I personally envision taking 2 bands and the door stop on business trips and it could go in my briefcase or luggage. As resistance bands go, I definitely like the fact that every band in this set has a set of handles. That saves a lot of changeover time between exercises. It even lets my son and I do the same exercises together. The bands and handles are very sturdy and well-made. I combine the two "strongest" bands for some of the exersizes and the door mount has no problem holding two of them in-place. This set of bands does not have foot/ankle straps but there are numerous exercises you can do to hit all the major muscle groups in your legs/hips. This set also does not come with a DVD. There is a simple list of 8-10 exercises that ship with the set. However, 20 minutes of searching on the Internet yielded dozens of resistance band exercises to do. I HIGHLY recommend this product. There are not many products that my son and I can use together but this one DEFINITELY is!

Black Mountain Products Resistance Bands Worked Great
In late December, I had shoulder surgery and the surgeon gave me a cheap latex band to use as a very low resistance starter for the initial physical therapy. Unfortunately, the cheap solution did not work as the latex band (without handles) was awkward to hold, didn't stayed tied to an anchor pole, and lasted only a few days before ripping apart in the middle of doing a therapy exercise. Needing a much more effective solution, I searched Amazon and found the Black Mountain Products (BMP) resistance bands. I purchased the five pack with resistance levels of extra light (2-4 pounds) thru extra heavy (25-30 pounds). The BMP pack was the perfect solution as they bands have user friendly handles, are made of high quality rubber, and provided a great progressive ladder of resistance levels as my shoulder strength returned over the next few months. It's great to find such a high-quality product at such a reasonable price. And, the great news is that after 15 weeks, the recovery is fully on target as I have progressed from the extra-light yellow 2-4 pound band all the way up to the extra heavy red band (25-30 pounds. My one recommendation is for BMP to develop a video library that illustrates how to complete various PT exercises and then provide a link to the library for all orthopedic surgeons as a resource for helping patients to visually see the correct form for each PT exercise---- this would be a great resource to replace the one page over-copied handout that most of us receive from most surgeons.

Would purchase again without hesitation
I guess the biggest question would be if I would purchase the product again if I had the opportunity. I would definitely buy this again without hesitation. Here's why. I bought this particular set to work with the P90X routine (yes I know there are 857 new workout programs since it came out). I chose resistance bands over weights as I have two small children and feel like they are LESS likely to get themselves injured with this than with dumbbells. The product: When you open the package you will find 5 individually wrapped bands, and a nifty piece of paper that indicates resistance levels. I would've found a laminated card (with resistance levels indicated) a little more durable but mine is taped on the door anyway. The bands feel solidly made and the biggest plus in this regard is each band has it's own individual handle which is cushioned very nicely. I'm not exercising for comfort but think the grips make it easier to focus on the exercises instead of the bands themselves. The length of the bands is adequate (5'10") and would not want anything any longer. Many exercises require you to create a loop to shorten them up a bit but this is not a negative by no means. I guess the only negative I can find is if you're looking for more weight you may have to double up on bands to get a desired weight, but even holding 2 grips is not uncomfortable. The convenience of having grips attached to the bands FAR outweighs any negative in this regard. It comes with a device to attach the band to a door but I just throw it over the Bowflex to accomplish my needs. It also comes with a nifty storage bag but I have not used this either. Bottom Line: if you're in the market for this sort of item and considering other choices; stop looking and just buy this one.

Good for the money
I was looking for some resistance bands to use with the P90X workout videos. I decided to go with B.M.P. because of the price and lifetime warranty. When I got the bands I quickly realized that they weren't strong enough for me and that they didn't seem to be as comparable to the weights stated. I think this is because I am 5'5" and the bands are designed for people taller than I. The extra height would likely add the extra resistance to make the bands as hard as stated. Other than that the hands seem to be pretty good. I did notice that there were traces of melted rubber from a band of a different color that dribbled onto on one of my bands. Its obvious that it hasn't harmed the integrity of the band and is only as disappointing as buying a book with a mark or slight crease on the cover. I do recommend this product. However, I suggest that if you are shorter or a stronger guy, you'll likely need to purchase stronger bands from another provider to get the resistance you're looking for. B.M.P. does have an orange band graded at 30-40 lbs. and there are other companies like Ripcord that provide even stronger ones.

Just right for those beginning a workout program
The new BMP 2011 resistance bands are a quality made product which is good for the beginning workout enthusiast, or a more advanced person looking to vary up their workouts from the old dumbbell and free weight routine. While some people complain that the bands offer little resistance, if your looking for something past 40 pounds, why did you buy these then? Besides, if you spin the bands into a loop before stepping onto them and then stretching them, you gain additional resistance, but this will wear your bands out faster, so if you REALLY need more resistance, move up a level. My wife and I are both using these for the moment, until we can save up some more cash to buy a set of powerblock dumbbells, but even after we get those, these will be very useful for certain exercises for myself, and I know my wife will be using them a lot even after we pick up the weights. Very useful for traveling with, as long as you don't need every band, then like books, they start taking up a bit too much room in your bag no matter how you try to pack them. Lastly, these bands work for me height/stretch wise, but I am only 6 foot tall, and when my arms are at full stretch with the bands, I can get to 7 and a half feet, so these bands certainly can stretch quite a distance. We are using them in conjunction with P90X and they have not given us any trouble doing so, highly recommended.

Durable and reasonably priced
I was afraid it would break because I choose one of the cheaper ones on Amazon but so far so good. No wear or tear. I can also feel a clear difference between resistance levels.

Great product, weird disclaimer in the instruction booklet
Super comfortable foam groups that rotate with the motion, nice variety of strength in the bands although if you are already big and strong strong and looking to do rowing type moves for example, you might find that the hardest level on this set is a bit on the weak side. I purchased these to strengthen my upper back muscles and address rotator cuff issues and the levels of strength work quite well - on my one weaker arm I have only just graduated from the weakest level to the second one. Overall seems really good quality the one thing that I was a little bit put off by was that in the instruction manual that comes with these bands, it says that you are only supposed to use them for up to a year and also that you are supposed to wear safety glasses every single time you work out with them. I have not done this and I’m not going to because, well, I don’t like putting on safety glasses every time I work out. Who does that? And I was not expecting to get a product that expires after year. I assume these things are in the instruction manual purely as a disclaimer for liability purposes and I’m going to continue to ignore them. Anyway, I purchased an exercise ball from Blackmountain products previously and I’m very happy with it and I’m also quite happy with these bands. I have been recommending Blackmountain products to friends and therapists.
