A Quiet, Slim Successor to the Original PS4
FOR THOSE WHO NEVER HAD A PLAYSTATION 4 I've been a playstation fan since the original PS2. Playstation is simply the best console for especially RPG's. This console is simply the best incarnation of the Playstation 4 so far. It's a super-quiet media center (Blu-rays, Netflix, Hulu, Plex). The PS4 is a big improvements from the PS3 in that multi-tasking actually exists. I can chat with my brothers in a party while watching a blu-ray or playing a game. Seriously, it's a wonderful system. FOR CURRENT ORIGINAL PLAYSTATION 4 OWNERS The rest of the review is for you, current PS4 owners. I sold my original PS4 for this. Do I regret it? Not in the slightest! My big beef with the PS4 was simply how loud it got. Playing games like the Last of Us put my old PS4 into some kind of dragon fire-breathing mode. It was so loud it permeated walls and kids running around outside questioned if a hurricane had attacked the neighborhood in a frantic rage. Haha that's a slight exaggeration, but it really was quite loud! ACOUSTICS Wow this thing is quiet. When I first turned it on I had to make sure it was on. I seriously can't even tell it's on while I'm doing media and other tasks. Gameplay depending on your game can be dead silent, or you can hear a slight whirr from the fan. I can play the Last of Us without apologizing to everyone in the house now! :) The blu-ray drive is also slightly quieter than *my* old PS4. I know such things vary per PS4. WIFI The Wifi is better (supports 5GHz wifi so transfer speeds can be faster) and I get higher throughput. I can actually use it for game streaming and remote play now! I previously has a poweline ethernet adapter because wi-fi would never cut it for me. DESIGN It's quite sleek. It's smaller than my super-slim PS3 I keep around (See Picture). The Matte finish is very nice. The previous glossy panel was always scratched up is gone, along with the massive bright console status light that always annoyed me (It's been reduced to a tiny light on the power button). The USB ports are also spaced further apart which is a nice touch. The optical output is gone, but I use HDMI CEC anyway so wasn't a miss for me. It's also soo much lighter! CONTROLLER The new DualShock 4 feels a bit more grippy than the prior one. The addition of the health/light bar window at the top is a really great addition.. I could never see that thing anyway while playing. GAMEPLAY Sorry, you won't notice any change in gameplay if you're coming from an older PS4. I notice some titles are a bit more fluid just because I felt sometimes the fans couldn't keep up with the heat of the system. SHOULD YOU WAIT FOR THE PS4 PRO? I have a 4k TV (43") and I chose this over the Pro. $100 more for a (likely) louder console that upscales some games to 4k without a 4k blu-ray player? Not worth it to me. All I wanted was peace and quiet and am perfectly pleased with the graphical quality of the current ps4 games. It seemed like Sony didn't really make the case for the extra investment for me. SHOULD I SELL MY OLD PS4 SYSTEM FOR THIS? I did, because quiet playing is important to me. If quiet playing is not a must have for you, it's probably not a worthwhile trade. The lack of the glossy panel that always got scratched and a sleeker design is also wonderful (some of the newer models don't have a glossy panel to get scratched). P.S. Uncharted is a Physical Game!!! The game that came with my last PS4 was a download code. Nothing bums you more than having to wait forever before you can play the game that comes with your system. Thanks Sony!

Great price on an excellent gaming console and media center
I picked up the Playstation 4 slim with Uncharted bundle during a sale and managed to grab it for 213 bucks. The console itself has more than made up for the expense with enjoyment. While it has been out for a while, I decided to get this as I have enjoyed my years with the Playstation 3 and figured for the low price point that it was worth it to get the next gen console as there are quite a few games that have come out that I wanted to play on the system now that it has matured a bit and the lineup has developed quite a bit over what was on offer during release. With regards to the system itself, it is a snap to set up, and comes with all the cables and power cords that you need. Some systems out there don't come with everything right out of the box anymore, so you don't need to worry about needing to buy anything else to get started. I already had a Playstation network account, so I just input my information and everything was ready pretty much ready to go. Those without an account will need to do a little bit of setup, but it's not too difficult. After the system updates finished installing, I loaded up some games that I bought and downloads worked very well. You can play some games during the download process, so you can get up and running pretty quick if you go that route. The Playstation 4 works well with my HD television. The colors pop, the animations are smooth, and it's a pretty decent upgrade in every way from the Playstation 3. While it isn't as powerful as a newer computer that is specced for gaming, the performance and graphics work well for a console. I like the new Playstation 4 interface a lot more than the Playstation 3 interface, which always seemed a bit barebones and slightly confusing at times. Accessing the things that I used most often just seemed to work more intuitively on the 4, and I spent less time in menus. Updates and notifications work more smoothly to let you know what's going on in my opinion. Using the apps that come with the system works well also. If you have Netflix or something like that, you can run them through your Playstation just fine. The internet browser works, although using a control pad to type things out is slower than a keyboard. It is perfectly possible to use your Playstation 4 as a basic media center for your living room. Uncharted 4 is a nice bonus with the system. This review isn't really about the game itself, but you get a disk copy in its own box. The Playstation has a great catalogue of western and Japanese style games to pick from, so there is a pretty wide variety of things to get into. I've played things as varied as Modern shooters, JRPGs, sports games, adventure titles, and quite a few old school retro sytle games that I found on sale on the Playstation network. The system itself isn't region locked also. What this means is that you can play a game that is Japanese or European or whatever region in your American playstation, and vice versa. You can also set up multiple accounts in order to buy things from multiple "regional stores" on the Playstation network. This is a little more advanced than some users care about, but the options are there. If you find a cheap game in another country, it's no worry whether or not you can play it, or if another country's release has better content, you aren't out of luck. All said, for the price point, the Playstation 4 is a great console that can provide countless hours of entertainment through games and media. It's currently the system that I use the most for gaming and media out of all my other options. While it is getting late in its life cycle, I'd still recommend it if you're looking for a great way to play games. You can't go wrong here.

Small but still the powerful game console you expect
Small but still the powerful PS4 in this boxed bundle. I always owned a PlaySation since the first PS1, then PS2, PS3 and now of course the PS4. I never owned a slim version though before. I always liked to go with the big old console which in my opinion looked like I was getting some good equipment for the money VS slim consoles that always felt like you pay the same price for less equipment. But that time this bundle set was a great deal, especially since the seller I found on the list of all people selling this set, was doing a "no tax ever" sale. The slim PS4 seems to work just fine as it should be, and its size is actually convenient to fit in tight places too. Since I still have my PS3, I have actually bought a stand which does the job nicely, having the PS3 under and new PS4 on the top of it: Allsop Metal Art Ergo 3 Adjustable Monitor Stand, TV / Laptop Riser, 3 Height Levels with Micro Leg Adjustments, Non-Skid, Holds 35 lbs (31630) The package arrived a bit damaged in shipping, but all seems to be alright though and the PS4 worked perfectly right out of the box. I have red some review on here that state that this device tend to over-heat and shut off or stop working at some point. So I am going to monitor mine for a while and may come back to edit this review in case something similar happens. But for the moment it works flawlessly. I did notice already that some part of the console were really hot after finishing to work on the initial setup, which lasted around an hour. That's one of the reason I wanted to have it set up on a metallic stand instead of plastic, so the heat can dissipate better. Haven't started playing the included game yet since I had to spend a a good hour on the initial console setup (this thing always take a while unfortunately but after it's done, there should not be any need to do it again). But at least I have tested the CD drive and it appears to take, read and eject the disk correctly so far. You have to also keep in mind that if you want to use any of the friends & social or shopping features of this PS4, you will need to create a Playstation network account. In case that could be useful for someone willing to buy that same bundle set, here is a list of what's included in the box: -PS4 console SLIM version (basic black) -1 X PS4 controller (black) -1 X game Uncharted 4 new sealed -1 X PS4 power cable (no transformer, just the cable itself to connect to the console) -1 X 1 mono headset in earbud form -1 X HDMI cable -1 X USB to micro USB cable (to connect/charge the controller) -User manual & warranty flyer

Great price and seems like new
I wanted another ps4 as a backup console,so i took a gamble basically and i was searching for a new ps4(which they are to much on here),so i tried the next best condition with a "like new" one. This ps4 console was reasonably priced,so i chose this uncharted 4 500gb version.I was sceptical thinking that this wouldn't come with the game(more to the game in this review and the game was a bonus as i was just wanting a "like new" PS4 at a cheaper good price).I was wanting a PS4 with more than 500gb,but I can always buy a 2tb hdd on here like i did years ago with my older fat ps4.The ps4 arrived with the original uncharted 4 ps4 box(but with wear and scratches in the box, which isn't a big deal)and the controller was wrapped up and the cords as well with twisty ties. The ps4,controller and cords seemed like they were new and never used(and had a new like smell). Also, about the uncharted 4 game.I thought that the game wouldn't be included or be a digital code(i prefer physical),but the game was included and a physical disc with the case and works as well. This was definately a great buy and i took a chance with a "like new" ps4 on here and paid off.

The PS4 Slim Is A Good Console But You Should Probably Get The PS4 Pro Instead
I purchased the PlayStation 4 Slim console as an upgrade to my launch unit. The system works well and its smaller form factor allowed me to put it someplace I couldn't put the launch unit. It also has mechanical "power" and "eject" buttons which is fantastic. With both my launch PS4 and my Xbox One I hate how if my shirt brushes against the console while cleaning the console turns on and that problem is fixed with the PS4 Slim. Keeping that in mind Sony took two steps backwards with the PS4 Slim. For starters there is no optical port in the slim. What this means is that if you have a really nice expensive pair of headphones that you like to use then you might not be able to use them on the PS4 Slim. It is a baffling decision. Additionally the two usb ports in the front are pushed back too far. If you have a USB drive with a thick cover (like some of the Kingston models, for example) then you won't be able to use them on the PS4 Slim because they won't fit in the small space where the USB ports are housed. I don't understand why they did that either. The PS4 Slim takes the same size internal hard drive as the launch unit so if you purchased a 2tb drive, for example, you can take it out of the launch unit and put it in the slim. Keep in mind though that the Slim will initialize the drive and erase everything on it so be sure you have everything backed up before you do this. Also be careful when you are switching out the drives on the PS4 Slim. It is a really easy process but the piece of plastic you slide off the PS4 Slim to get access to the drive bay is incredibly cheap and feels like you could break it really easily so be sure to take it off and put it back on gently. Overall the PS4 Slim is a nice piece of hardware. I really like the smaller form factor (it really isn't that much smaller than the original but small enough to fit where I wanted to put it) and the mechanical buttons are amazing. If you don't have a nice pair of headphones that utilize an optical port then the removal of this port probably won't concern you at all. Hopefully they didn't make the same mistake with the PS4 Pro console. With the PS4 Pro console coming out soon I would wait and get that instead of the PS4 Slim. There really is no reason to get the slim console unless you want a "cheap" second PS4 console and even then it won't have the capability of the upcoming PS4 Pro console. I don't regret my purchase and actually like my Slim PS4 but it won't make sense for a lot of people to buy it with the other option that is going to be on the market. I like the Xbox better
I'm giving this fives stars because I think it's a decent system in spite of the things I don't like about it. Let me say up front, I bought an original Xbox just after graduating high school, then I bought a 360 when it came out, and for the past few years I've been using an Xbox one. I'm a little bit prejudiced. I was recently talked into buying this because my brother owns a playstation as well as a lot of people we know, which is easily what playstation has going for it the most, the fact that Sony has sold several times as many systems. If you're trying to decide between this and Xbox, you will get a lot more matches and have a lot more people you know playing this system. In the week I've owned this system, though, I've noticed two things that would have been a deal breaker for me if I knew about them a week ago when I bought this. First, there is a noticeable difference in performance. I've been in numerous occasions playing BF4 where more than six or seven players are on my screen at once and the picture started skipping, things started running slower, it was just obvious the processor is working as hard as it's able to work. In the year and a half I've played this game on Xbox one, that has never happened to me. If you need more evidence than that, The internet browser on Xbox one is blazing fast compared to the browser on Ps4. My other problem is the controller. This is a die hard Xbox fan talking, but the controller is just not very comfortable. My biggest problem is that the d pad is on the left side of the left stick, which means that playing bf4, you have to take you thumb off the left stick in order to switch to a gadget. With the Xbox controller, if I'm busy making my guy run with my left thumb, I can switch gadgets using my right thumb. The other thing I hate about the controller is that it has an internal batterry, so you have to plug it into the playstation in order to charge it, And in the past week I've had to charge the controller three times. Xbox controllers use 2 AA batteries. I bought four rechargeable AAs on amazon for $15 with the charger included, and a charge on two of them lasted about two weeks, at which point the other two batteries were charged and ready to go.. So, I think the Xbox is a better system. But, you may want to consider this if you have a lot of friends.

PS4 Over XB1! It's A No Brainer!!!
PS4 is the way to go. It is more powerful than the XB1. PS4 has better hardware. A lot of people who own a XB1 are in denial about this for whatever reason beyond me as before either console even came out the specs were released and everyone knew PS4 had better hardware. Microsoft used ESram while Sony used DDR3 so RIGHT THERE makes PS4 better and that's before even mentioning PS4 has a better CPU/GPU. What REALLY always makes me giggle is the fact that when both consoles came out, XB1 was $100 more because of kinect being forced on you but what makes me laugh is that people paid $100 more for the weaker console. PS4 being better isn't even a debate it's a reality. Numbers speak for themselves. Anyway, now that that's out of the way. PS4's interface is cleaner, and easier to navigate than XB1. The guy who lives downstairs has a XB1, and I always felt LOST navigating it. I build computers, and repair computers so it's not like I'm a noob at electronics. It's the simple fact that XB1's OS/Software is a MESS. Buy yourself a beautiful PS4, swap out the stock HDD with a 1TB Western Digital " BLACK " drive, and you'll be GOLDEN. Put the stock HDD inside your desktop as extra storage is which is what I did. Sure, I could have went with 2TB for my PS4 but the 2TB's are Seagate and Seagate has the highest failure rate so seriously, stay away from Seagate. I rather have 1TB over 2TB if it means having a reliable QUALITY HDD to store my data. I could honestly sit here all night telling you why you should buy a PS4 but there's no point. It's not hard to do a little research. It's not hard to see PS4 BLOWS away XB1 on every single level. XB1 is a good entertainment console but when it comes to gaming, PS4 is the way to go. Some may say well, well, well you're just a Sony Pony. Nah, if it was the other way around, I would own a XB1. I simply go into the store, and I buy the better product it's that simple. Playstation has ALWAYS been the superior console. Also, don't listen to those people who automatically bring up PC gaming when you're talking about consoles. Right off the bat those people are fools. They start saying how PC gaming is the best, and how a gaming computer is better than both consoles. Well, DUH. It's a direct computer. The hardware cam be changed out at any time all the time. PC Gaming will ALWAYS be better. You NEVER mention PC gaming when you're talking about consoles. They're two different worlds. Enjoy your brand new PS4 :)
