What is the hdmi cable length? can it be replaced with a longer hdmi cable? i don't want the converter box hanging down from my tv mid-way.

Hi, Lynn, It has only 18" of cable from your TV's HDMI input to the converter box (the piece going to the composite connections is much longer). So unless your TV is hanging from a support beam, with a cable-wrap convenience in the back, you might have to buy an "HDMI extender" (one male, one female end). I took a quick look for the sake of starter pricing. I see that Wal-Mart has a 6-foot HDMI extender for around 8 bucks. That's the lowest price I saw, at least from Wal-Mart. Hope this was helpful.

What is the recommended usb 5v amperage? ideally how much current does this need?

I am not certain what the amperage is, but there are two usb plugs on this and I believe that one is to supply power to the unit and the other is to transmit the signal from one device to another. I hope this helps. I use this weekly and it seems to work well.

So i tried my unit. the black “box” gets very hot. it plugged into the usb port on my receiver. also, i get video, but no sound. any help?
