Bought this long ago. Works GREAT! Easy to take out when needing to do a diagnosis and put back when done. after a couple of years, still going strong!

TL;DR: Update: Killed battery. Original TL;DR: A good solution for not using fuse taps. *UPDATE (Please read, I hope this helps you)* I originally was happy to find this so I wouldn't have to use fuse taps or a 12v adapter. After a bunch of troubleshooting my car's dying battery issues, I determined that this adapter was the cause. I changed my car battery (2020 Ford Fusion Titanium) in January of 24. Around January of 2025 I started having issues with my battery dying. Every so often it just would not start and seemed like the longer I let it sit, the more of a guarantee I would have that it wouldn't start (which makes sense, because driving charges the battery so driving it the next day would be fine). It was only happening fairly rarely so it wasn't a huge issue although still annoying and concerning. I installed this adapter over the summer, and as time went on, the dying battery issue got worse and worse, to the point where even just letting the car sit for a day, would cause it to not start the next time. The shortest time you can set the camera to when using this is 10m, so every time for me when I open the door without even starting the car, the camera comes on for ten minutes. There were all sorts of recordings of just the wall in my garage from the camera being on when I didn't want it to be on. Other research said that this supplies power all the time to some extent, no matter the setting. I took the battery to the store where I purchased it and they tested it (twice) and determined that the battery was fine. I did a lot of research and come to find out for my car that when you change the battery, you also need to ***RESET THE BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS)***. I didn't know that was a thing. So, I charged the battery again, reset the BMS, and still was having issues. I figured at this point I would need to take it to a dealership to troubleshoot a parasitic draw, but wanted to do my due diligence and ensure that it wasn't this adapter. It wasn't until I charged the battery, reset the BMS, and unplugged this adapter, that my battery issues were finally resolved. This could only be a problem for Ford Fusions; I don't know, but do not be surprised if you run into battery issues after using this. _____________________________________________ I really researched this a lot before buying it for my Garmin 47 dash cam. I really didn't want to deal with fuse taps for a hardwired solution and I didn't want to use the 12v adapter because it would bother me seeing it plugged in all the time. This was the solution. It's plug and play basically and has a 2nd USB port if you need it. I was worried it would drain my car's battery but I have not experienced any issues with it as of yet.

Worked for a 2009 Toyota Corolla LE but when used in a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300 the power turns off after about 10 minutes after you turn the car off. I had it set to never turn off in both cars just not sure why it doesn’t work in the Benz.

This is a great idea. My Mazda doesn’t have any interior fuses that switch off with the ignition, and this was a much easier solution than going through the firewall. On the pricy side, but easy to connect and works great.

Great option to put a camera in any vehicle and makes installation a breeze

This is the 3rd Garmin Mini 2 I have installed. 1st one I used 3 years ago on my '18 Tacoma with a Dongar power mirror tap which still works great. 2nd one on a '19 Rav4 with the supplied 12v adapter in the console with all the wiring hidden away. This time on a '21 Rav4 with this constant power kit. I really like this method with the selection to keep power on for 10 minutes, always on or just turn off with the vehicle. This car doesn't get driven much & sits in a secure garage so I set it to just turn off. If I'm parking in a sketchy place I could just flip the switch to always on (infinity symbol) & then switch it back to off when I get home. Very handy feature! If I lived in a dangerous city this could be used as a layer of security paired up with the Vault online storage for video to catch thieves or vandals. I personally just use an SD card in all 3 & plan to get 1 more camera for another car I have. I do every once in awhile connect with my phone to make sure the cameras are still working fine & aimed correctly. I really like these Garmin mini 2's that are basically a set it & forget it setups but if something happens they seem to be very dependable! Highly recommend them & this constant power cable kit!

Excellent...works easy and nice with switch for normal power that turns off dash cam when ignition is turned off. Then you also select 10 minutes until shut off or 25 hours a day if you eant...cool

I purchased this unit as it was a Garmin product and I did not fancy purchasing one of those cheap £8 to £15 Chinese units. This unit has a switch that cuts the power to the dash camera after 10 minutes or another position after 24 hours of constant use to stop any chance the dash cam might leave you with a flat battery. The OBD unit has a censor that cuts the power when a pre set voltage has been reached so your car will start and not leave you stranded. Another feature with this unit if your car is rocked when it is switched off or hit the unit sends power again and records for another 10 minutes ( not tried when set on 24hour setting ). Just to be clear this unit will not work like a hard wiring kit and will not put the Dash cam into true parking mode (well it did not on mine anyway. Road Angel Ultra 4K). When the OBD unit is on it has a red constant light on it and flashes slowly when the set time is over and goes out if the battery voltage drops below the set level. Please look and see where your OBD port is and if you are able to plug this unit into it and still be able to replace covers etc, mine was underneath the passenger parcel shelf and fitted perfectly and can hardly be seen. The unit is working well and I am pleased with it so far, hope the extra cost rewards me with a long working life fingers crossed.

Do jedneg USB mam podłączona kamerę, do drugieg GPS tracker. Ustawione na 10 min opóźnienie po wyłączeniu auta, pozwala to zapomnieć o ładowaniu baterii w urządzeniach. W razie wstrząsów w aucie, przywraca zasilanie na kolejne 10 minut :) / edit. Niestety po kilku miesiącach urządzenie przestaje trzymać ustawienia i kamerka działa cały czas po wyłączeniu auta, dopiero wypięcie i ponowne włożenie do OBD pomaga na chwilę. Już 2 urządzenie i oba mają to samo :(
