Sharpening Serrated Knives?
We cook and bake often, using our knives several times a day. We had an old Chef's electric grinding type wheel sharpener, but it never got the knives to the sharpness that we were looking for. My wife bought me a complete set of Lansky Diamond hones. I have a very nice serrated bread knife, but never had the tools to sharpen it. My Wife went the extra mile, and purchased the Lansky Medium and Fine hones for serrated knives. It takes a long time to sharpen a serrated knife, you have to sharpen each serration separately, and then take down the burr created on the back side. The Lansky Hone(s) did a fantastic job on the Bread Knife, and now it slices easily and effortlessly. A must have for serrated knives!

Works very well for me
I use this stone, in conjunction with the medium hone for serrated knives. The results are great. I've put the Lansky hones for serrated knives to work on some very different knives of very different quality and I am always pleased with the results. I've an emergency kit knife, (Cold Steel's "ER 1," which is no longer manufactured) with a stainless steel blade. This knife is an integral, important part of my car's first aid kit. I take care of that blade and I keep it very sharp using the Lansky medium and fine hones. If I need that knife; I'm really going to need it. However, I also employ these hones with success on inexpensive serrated knives that I use for slicing stuff on my little home bar. The results, even with cheap knives, are great.

I give it five stars because it is excellent for putting a nice sharp edge on knives
I give it five stars because it is excellent for putting a nice sharp edge on knives. Nice selection of stones. It requires a little practice and patience to use. I didn't get the little stand for the blade holder. I just clamped one side of the holder in my bench vice and flipped it as needed. The Lasky system worked beautifully. I sharpened my pen knife by clamping the stone in the vice and moving the knife. I would recommend this to others.

Does the job well.
You might want a medium grind for serrated knives as well. In general, I like the Lansky system. It took me awhile to get the right results. Be sure you avoid putting a curl on your blade: go light for each hone and flip sides often. You can detect a curl on the blade by running your fingernail tip from the blade side to the blade edge and off the blade. You can feel a little catch against your fingernail on the side that has the curl.

Best method of sharpening serrated edges I have found
Anyone that needs to sharpen gut hooks or serrated knives may find this product helpful. The product of course holds the angle of the edge constant due to the Lansky system. You can touch up pretty much any irregular blade shape with this stone. It is a fine stone, so it may take a while to get a nice sharp edge from a dull edge. I have been successful at sharpening serrated knives. The instructions given where very helpful. It will take a little practice to determine what angle to use to get the optimal edge.

Does not work with all serrations
I'm sure this works for most serrations but it does not work for all. My angled serrations on my crkt M16 made it possible for The Jig to hit the right angle. Quality seems great and I love this Lansky kit that it goes to. Seller was fantastic and ship the item right away. I left a three star review only because it advertised to work with all serrations

Great
For most of us, life feels like a movie we've arrived at forty-five minutes late. Something important seems to be going on . . . maybe. I mean, good things do happen, sometimes beautiful things. You meet someone, fall in love. You find that work that is yours alone to fulfill. But tragic things happen too. You fall out of love, or perhaps the other person falls out of love with you. Work begins to feel like a punishment. Everything starts to feel like an endless routine. Life happens. But. It does not happen to you! You happen to it! We r not victims ! For everything that happens in life there is a decision I can make that will make the outcome manageable. Poor decisions: sad consequences. Good decisions : Happy Consequences. ;~PB
