Knots Gone
If you have baby fine or fine hair, this is the only hairbrush or comb that easily and instantly removes knots without pulling your hair out or breaking your hair off. Best of all, it doesn’t even hurt while it goes through your knots. Buy it!!! You’ll be happy to know this brush works just as wonderfully on hair that is not baby fine. It brushes out back combing, teasing or “ratting” without damaging hair. Buy it!!! It will be your favorite hairbrush!!!

Best brush I have ever used!
Best brush I have ever used! Just too bad it doesn't have a wooden handle. Been using for a little over 3 months now. It takes a little getting used to, as the bristles are not rounded at the tips & feel sharp to the touch (on your scalp only), it hurts at first, but after a few days, you'll never go back to any other brush (I know because I've tried & it doesn't cut it!). I'm a guy with very long hair & am very rough when brushing, both on my scalp & hair. I loose less than half as much hair compared to any other brush I've used in the last 15 years. No other brush has scratched my head a nicely either!!! Only downfall is the cheap plastic. It has broken on me, just above the handle. We'll, it's cracked not broken, I still use it daily... I'm buying another one right now & as soon as it shows up, I'm going to coat the old one in apoxy & hope that it will last for years to come. If not, maybe I'll work on being a little less rough while brushing my hair with the new one, or I'll just keep getting new ones. Anyway I slice it, best brush ever & I'm never going back to any other brush again!

A reasonable replacement for Scalpmaster and Phillips brushes.
Those of use who like metal bristle brushes have been unhappy that the Scalpmaster 125 and Phillips brushes made in France have disappeared. “Replacements” like the Scalpmaster 126 and Phillips 11 are made in China and are not nearly the same quality. The listing on Amazon for this brush is particularly annoying because it specifically says it is made in France but it is made in China. It also has little grommets around every bristle - which is not shown in the picture. I specifically bought this model because it had no grommets like the old models. That said , it functions pretty well and is the best I can find .

Similar to sheila stotts brush, I’ll be buying this again
This brush is amazing. Good quality. My boyfriend tried my Sheila Stotts brush and was like pls order me one! I looked on amazon and read about the Scalpmaster brush and realized this one is made in the same manufacture in France and half the price of SS brush, so I got it! It has 11 rows compared to 9 in my SS brush. It’s a little stiffer feeling but not terrible. I would use for brushing my hair but my bf uses it as a sensory calming tool to stimulate his scalp. I also got him a Denmark be-bop scalp brush for the shower. We love sensory things:)

Just a bit disappointing
I like this brush because it seems to put less strain on my hair and I'm seeing less hair breakage but I just noticed two wires missing after less than 3 months of usage. I wouldn't mind pushing wires back into place but I was unaware of having lost them. Hopefully this doesn't keep happening.

UPDATE 6/19/2015 Buying a New One...Cracked Head
I waited a month before writing this. Yes, the pins took me about 2 days to get used to. (I knew from reading other reviews that I should be a little careful at first.) I really like them though. The rubber pad has already softened a little, hopefully it won't get too much softer. This Brush is very easy to clean. This brush removes tangles, almost as well as using your fingers. It doesn't pull. Without the ball tips, you can easily detract hair from the brush, if you happen find a knot, to work through it from the bottom. Works well on wet or dry hair. Goes easily through my very thick coarse hair. I have no idea why, but since getting this I don't feel the need to re-brush my 10x a day. I'm happy with 1-2 times. The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the handle. I wish it was more bulbous. It's flat, which is harder to hold onto with these arthritic hands (I'm ambidextrous). Handle is 'just' long enough with these large hands. UPDATE: Going to have to buy a new one. Not sure if I got a bad head or what but there are cracks on each side of the head from the stress of going through my very thick hair. I will be replacing it with one of the same. Wish these still used a wood body instead of thinner plastic. The one nice thing is the head is large enough to just hold in your hand.

Not quite what you think
My wife had a Scalpmaster that was about as old as she was, and it broke one day when it smacked on something. We got her this one as a replacement. Three things you should know when buying this: 1: It's not the original Scalpmaster. It is branded Phillips. The original Scalpmasters are gone. However, it is built practically identical to the scalpmaster and has been pulled through some of the toughest hair you can find, with no problems. 2: Anyone who remembers buying a new original Scalpmaster will know that the original brush pads are stiff. They're like a leather glove. They need to be used to be broken in and softened. The more you use it, the softer and more conforming the red pad becomes. According to my wife, it could take upwards of a year for light use. Also, toughing it out and toughening your skin on your head doesn't hurt either (at least too much). 3: It's a metal bristle brush. Don't expect feathers to comb through your hair. It's made this way on purpose for a purpose. If you don't like the idea or feeling of metal, flat tipped pins on your head, don't buy the brush. However, we can hold the original Scalpmaster next to this one and the pins are identical in every respect (size, shape, tip, position...). If you get one, expect that it will feel like metal bristles on your head because that's what it is and that's at least why my wife likes it.
