The slide easily on the board and do not have any sharp edges. They have a nice matt finish, are easy to clean with a damp cloth and to towel dry. I play backgammon every week and the pieces appear to be very durable. They have not had any nicks or scratches. I had not focused on the fact that they come with a new pair of dice. The dice are also easy to handle, toss and clean. The pips and numbers are very easy to read. All of the pieces pack well into the backgammon case. There is also a drawstring bag to hold all the pieces, or in my case, all of the old pieces. Good value for the price.

**Q: Are these stackable?**
A: They don’t have grooves specifically for stacking so you can put them on top of each other but they have smooth surfaces and will ultimately fall over if stacked too high

**Q: Thickness or height of individual pieces?**
A: Each piece is just over a quarter inch thick.  Alternatively if you stack 4 together, they measure 3 centimeters in height.
