Volume 7 and Volume 8 are the major turning points for our beloved Kaneki, who starts out wishy-Washy. Kaneki's escaped Yamori after a brutal fight and is running through the towers in search of Banjo and the others. Our team of ghouls is fighting to find Kaneki and save him from whatever torment he's had to endure. Kaneki does find the group who's helped him out but doesn't run with them, instead he goes after Touka. The high strung ghoul is having to face the hardest thing, her younger brother who's set on attacking her. In this volume we get to delve into Touka's secret past a little as Touka and Ayato battle it out. Ayato believes he's the stronger one of the siblings because he's a "true" ghoul who doesn't try to "fit" into the human world. We all know Touka is amazing, but fighting your own sibling is hard. Especially when it's the younger sibling you had promised to look after. Cliffhanger from the other volume is The One Eyed Owl! Apperantly this SSS class ghoul has been very quiet for ten years and now suddenly he appears out of nowhere? The Doves are forced to confront this ghoul again though the one who was thought to have defeated the ghoul isn't present. Two investigators take on the ghoul with the unique prototypes Arata, Kokaku. Similar to that of Yamori's in which it mainly engulfed his body with the Kagune. But will a human be able to withstand such a powerful Quinque? How will the prototype hold up against such a powerful ghoul? Kaneki swoops in to help Touka with her tough fight. Let's just say you'll be in love with Kaneki by the end of the volume. He, he, he. He's no longer that timid college student we saw within the first couple of books. The Aogiri Tree is still very mysterious and Kaneki wants to get to the heart of everything. Including the truth behind Rize and the "accident" that caused his life to change and her's to end. I do love how even though Rize died in the first volume we still get to see her throughout the series. Cussing and violence is a given. I'm loving this series so much to the point I'm bugging my husband asking for the next books. . . I cannot wait to read on and see more of Kaneki and how he's grown. Not to mention the rest of the cast and of course see more of our eccentric Juzo. Review: Perfect - I love this series and my manga arrived in perfect condition!

Aogiri Tree VS. The CCG
Vol. 8 of the Tokyo Ghoul Series picks up the confrontation between the mysterious organization of Ghouls, known as Aogiri Tree, and the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG). There's lots of action and fight scenes as the battle comes to a violent conclusion, all with the excellent artwork that has come to be expected by manga author Sui Ishida. We also get a glimpse of siblings Touka and Ayato Kirishima's past, an interesting side story which sheds light on how the two became what they are in the present. An action-packed, exciting volume, Volume 8 is a must read in the series.

Best volume
This has to be my favorite volume I’ve read of TG yet. Up there in enjoyment and even further than most volumes I’ve read of Berserk, Vinland Saga and other fantastic manga. It is a must read.

Totally Satisfied
I absolutely love the Tokyo Ghoul manga. Sui Ishida is brilliant, and this volume does not disappoint. I would like to point out that the translation into English was well done. Not all manga can take a translation and come out understandable, much less still in such stylistic writing. Additionally, when I ordered this book, I expected it much later than when it arrived. The prompt delivery was incredible. I love this series, and I love the top-class packaging and delivery I received.

So good
~4/5 (Contains light spoilers.) Touka and Ayato's childhood is shown for the first time. We see what happened to their mother and father, how they ended up on their own, what kind of parenting they experienced. How they kind of stuck together when they could, and yet how they separated on such bad terms. Throughout this, we see Ayato beating Touka horribly in the present. Ugh, it's awful to watch. We actually see less of Kaneki for most of this volume, until he steps in and fights Ayato. And Kaneki is badass now. That torture has changed him completely, and it's rather fascinating. He separates from everyone at the end of the volume, and I'm interested to see where he's planning to go next. It's a sad parting with Touka, though. This series is really hard to take at times, it is so violent; and yet I just can't stop. [More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]

I received Tokyo Ghoul Vol 8 in excellent packaging. The manga is a Canada print and arrived in great condition overall. There was a small damage on the spine, but it's not a major issue for me. Despite this, I'm happy with the purchase.
