Energizer 2-Amp Battery Charger/Maintainer, 9-Step Smart Battery Car Charger, LCD Display, 6V/12V Voltage Detection for Auto, Motorcycle, RV, Boat,SUV

Current Applications: Tractor/Mowers. After researching a very large number of Battery Chargers/Maintainers, I selected the Energizer ENC-2A and purchased two of them (several weeks apart) because of 1) Current Customer Reviews (4.2/5.0), 2) 5-year Warranty, implying that it will last a long time, compared to other Maintainers with much shorter warranties or unusable warranties (cost to fix under warranty greater than charger cost, for example), 3) 2A Current Rating, 4) Ring Terminal Accessory to enable quick connect/disconnect, 5) It is a 7-Step (Stage) Smart Charger, 6) It can charge 6V or 12V Batteries, 7) The price was very good for the features, 8) Cords are certainly long enough, 9) It will charge AGM batteries, if they are salvageable, Marine Deep Cycle, etc., 10) Ability to fully charge discharged batteries, with voltages below 1.0V, if bad cells can be recovered by the Smart Steps, 11) Lightweight, and 12) Amazon delivery was great, as usual. I did not like the fact that 1) Energizer does not actually make the product and that you have to contact the real manufacturer (licensed by Energizer), which apparently is Bright Manufacturing, with Corporate Offices in Florida, if you have a problem 2) After a power outage, you must re-select the correct voltage (6V or 12V) before the charger "Energizes" or turns on - would have preferred a 6V/12V switch, so that the charger could start working immediately after a power outage, 3) Would like to see an LED Display with more information, but what can you logically expect for a Charger/Maintainer at a price of $20 delivered?

Wow! I've been using this one for 5 years now, and it still works well and reliably. Additionally, it has extended the life of my car battery, so it has also paid for itself. You can't ask for more than that.

Charger is as advertised. Came packaged well. Arrived on schedule. I like that charger is switchable between 6volts & 12volts. It came with two switchable connection cords. One with alligator clamps, another with eye terminals. Appears to be a good quality charger. Time will tell

These are definitely something I would say you get what you pay for the price is great they look nice they will maintain a car battery but what I bought them for is I have a large boat as three large marine batteries in it and these Energizer said they work on those type of batteries but they do not so I ordered like 5 or 6 of them and I'm using two on my two Corvettes that just have normal car batteries because marine RV battery they just threw up an orange light and don't do crap so if I was you I would spend two or three dollars more and get a quality product instead of a quality brand name with the mistake I made because these things are crap is just no other way to put it when you get it and you put it in your hand and the thing only weighs a couple grams and you know I got like 30 gauge wires that are so damn thin and small I'm surprised they don't melt hooked up to a 12 volt battery so if you would like to learn from my mistake buy the battery tender brand but avoid this Energizer like the cheap piece of crap that it is

* * * * * UPDATED from 2 to 5-star! GREAT SUPPORT and great product! I posted the 2-star review below mainly because this smart charger wasn't smart enough to remember or detect if the battery was 6v or 12v and thus wouldn't start without having to manually select the option each time. A day or so after the review, a person from the company called me personally and offered to resolve the problem. They actually agreed with my complaint and CHANGED THE DESIGN as a result so it would automatically remember the last setting and start charging automatically as soon as it's connected to the battery. They shipped me the upgraded version for no charge even thought the return period was long past. You just can't get better service than this! The charger works perfectly now. On another positive note, I'd been having the leave the original charger at the open end of my carport since it needed to be manually started. That's resuited in it being essentially outdoors and exposed to rain for almost a year. I've went out and found it dripping wet on several occasions and still it worked perfectly fine every time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disappointed by this not-so-smart charger If you connect the battery and walk away, you'll come back to an uncharged battery. The charger will be stupidly flashing its lights and waiting on you to tell it if it's a 6v or 12v battery. No-name cheaper chargers can auto-detect the type of battery and automatically start charging. Can't believe this name-brand one doesn't. Would have returned it but was past 30 days before i found this fatal flaw. Buying another to replace this one with. As for functionality, well it's a charger and it charges if you press the right button- twice.

Set it and forget it. Easy to use. Maintain battery life with compact design.
