The stains, test tube, forceps, lens papers, etc. really complete the set. The enclosed book is very comprehensive! She has not used it much yet, but it's a great resource for later explorations. Many reviewers have commented that a case would have been nice, and would have been. However, a dust cover is provided, and truthfully our scientist prefers to have it out at her disposal at all times because she is always finding something she needs to examine. A real person answered the phone, patiently walked me through some possible fixes, and once we'd determined the wiring was likely defective, sent a replacement at no charge, which he said he'd personally test before shipping! The new unit works great and my 13-year-old is having so much fun and actually ENJOYING LEARNING! The ability to view solid objects is so awesome for any age (I'm having fun with it too!) and the included experiment cards are amazing.
